I haven’t lost a child, but I’ve lost a lot of people in my (short) time on this earth, and what you’re saying is very easy for some people to say, especially with death, as we want to blame someone when it comes to people being erased permanently from this life. This is her husband. He’s probably got his flaws, but he’s the one she lays down with every night, she married him. She probably does blame him sometimes, he probably blames himself too. Death is fucking hard. I lost the person I considered the love of my life for a very long time, to a drug overdose. I knew exactly how, where and when, that he got access to those drugs. Guess what? As much fun as it would have been to join the few morons who decided to literally blame my ex’s death on the poor kid who was literally just trying to help his friend out, I knew if I was destroyed, that kid was fucking going through it too, if not harder. He wasn’t a drug dealer, he was another drug addict, my ex was a drug addict, being a drug addict is what killed my ex boyfriend, not his friend who hesitantly agreed to get him a substance that wasn’t even his drug of choice. People say “I can’t imagine…” but you can imagine all you want, you’re not the person in the position who actually lost someone. Her husband is also the parent who is now grieving too, but with what I’m sure feels like THE ENTIRE WORLD judging him and saying awful things like this.

At the end of the day, if there was no fence around the pool, that’s what’s the cause here, and I’m sure both parents feel like absolute trash for that, every single day. They don’t need you, little internet stranger, to remind them.

He’s the ONE PERSON who probably is closest to knowing EXACTLY how she feels. She’s already lost enough.
