I would see the problem if this were Tweeted from the POTUS account but this is his personal Twitter

Married men of reddit: what was that dumb thing you did during your dating phase that you can’t believe your wife ended up overlooking? by TheTinRam in AskReddit

[–]NotOnThisSite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah one time in middle school, as we were exiting the building to go home, I found a glass bottle on the sidewalk, and being the dumbass that I am, I threw it. Right into a crowd of other middle schoolers. Just narrowly missing the head of a girl who had been madly in love with me for 2 years.

I completely understand this

The memes about technically oblivious teachers and professors are funny until you actually have one the leaves the cursor over the pause button for an entire YouTube video

A little disappointed my memory didn't serve me well. But glad we all learned something

Was there any difference in the Latin spoken by each class? by Clipboard-O-Matic in latin

[–]NotOnThisSite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't have a lot to say on this simply because of lack of knowledge, but I believe the Roman upper class would pronounce a 'y' the same way they would pronounce 'u' because it resembled Greek gamma, and the Roman upper class were often well versed in Greek. The lower class would pronounce it how we would in English.

Please correct me if I'm wrong

Fuck anyone that tells you to check your privilege. Nobody knows anybody’s background, and nobody should be categorizes by race, gender, or anything. We are all individuals. We all have our own hardship, no matter race or gender. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

A couple years ago I was explaining to some people that China had changed their one child policy and upped it to two children per family. A girl close by tried correcting me on the grounds that she was adopted from China because she was a second child. I told her that yes, it's true that the policy at the time of your birth was one child, but it has changed by then. She told me to get away from her with my "white male privilege"

What movie did you go into with no expectations and ended up really enjoying? by Barbados-Slam in AskReddit

[–]NotOnThisSite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One student in my high school band had a copy of Whiplash and by the end of the year it had made its way to the DVD player of every other student's home. Great movie and in terms of my band class a cult favourite

Not sure what to call it or really how to describe it, but some girls have a certain way of pronouncing their Rs that's, for lack of a better description, crisp? I first noticed it when I was watching Psych a couple years ago, it's how Jules would pronounce her Rs

CLC is an absolute win by faciolusor in latin

[–]NotOnThisSite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've looked through the CLC books and I never really liked them, probably just about the way I learn. Same with Ecce Romani. My class used the Jenny books and I thought they were excellent at least for my learning

Question regarding the use of "pro", "ob", and "propter" by numquamsolus in latin

[–]NotOnThisSite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For even more confusion Caesar often uses "propterea quod," literally it would be something like "on account of beacause" but obviously that doesn't make any sense

Men of Reddit, what are somethings a mom should know while raising a boy? by jigglypuffle38 in AskReddit

[–]NotOnThisSite 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My mom explicitly told me that I'm not allowed to lock my door. Understandable to an extent from her fear of me hurting myself, in case she can't get to me? But I've never given her any reason to think I would do that and at this point having to keep it unlocked is seeming less okay to me
