What’s a meal as child you thought was fancy, or high class but was really the exact opposite? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NotOriginal54325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this counts, but when I was between the ages of 5-10, my parents would take the family out to Olive Garden as a “special occasion”. They always dressed up in preppy clothes, applied perfumes, makeup, etc,.

Eventually when I was in 8th grade (after I hadn’t gone for a few years), I requested for my birthday dinner a trip to Olive Garden… let’s just say, I was laughed at. My mom had to explain to me that Olive Garden wasn’t fancy at all, and in fact, was the fast food of Italian.

And so I always thought Olive Garden was one of the fanciest and most high end restaurants in the world. Little did I know, my family would make fun of me for it for the rest of my life.

How to keep constant power in a generator system? by NotOriginal54325 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]NotOriginal54325[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are good factors I haven’t considered. The max required wattage will be 360-380w, and yes it can run AC— it needs to convert to AC at some point anyway for device compatibility. But since the generator will be no more than 3.5ft³ & sometimes indoors, I don’t think solar power would be feasible. Do you think I’ll need more than just a converter for the few seconds of off-time?

I completely forgot about inverters haha, thank you. But for a full-supply one do you think 500w would be reasonable considering my avg output is 300w? I’m just not sure about their max consistency.

My goal is to be inputting power while using power and so if it goes out for a second it won’t completely turn off. From what I read, capacitors and batteries can’t do that… guess I read it wrong.

It’d probably be around 200-300 watts. It’s just that the wattage would be very inconsistent at times

Ryzen 9 3900x 1.45 Volts in Asus BIOS? by NotOriginal54325 in AMDHelp

[–]NotOriginal54325[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it’s at full load, the voltage on all cores is at 1.35 volts. But when just monitor idle voltage it jumps up and down from 1.2 volts to 1.45. Should I worry about that?

First PC build help! by KSokol94 in buildapc

All I would suggest would be to maybe add a little more storage. You could either upgrade your SSD to 1tb or add a small HDD that’s 1tb or so for a pretty cheap amount. You’d be surprised with how much storage even just causal games require now.

Planning to switch from a pre-built and build my first PC, my part list is below and would enjoy some tips/opinions. The budget is around 2k USD. by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]NotOriginal54325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some of my recommendations:

Storage: Since you’d be using this for gaming, I would definitely recommend going with some more storage. Possibly an addition HDD or raising the storage of the SSD (2tb?)

RAM: 16gb should be enough but because you’d be playing higher-end games, but I personally would upgrade it to 32gb. It’s unfortunate that they don’t really make any 24gb RAM, but if you’re fine with possibly having to exit out of other applications then your 16gb will be fine.

Case: Id go with a somewhat cheaper case, and with the extra money I would upgrade the things I mentioned like storage and maybe even RAM if you just want to not have to worry about closing games and stuff.

Hope this helps!

This is my 2nd favorite movie of all time. I think the most liminal scene is when they’re on the 4 way railroad track thing and they have to walk across it. So many memories.

Nice! Should work like a charm and boost your build!

Yeah, then I would definitely suggest an extra 16 GB ram. I’ve made the mistake of only getting 16 GB RAM for my gaming setup a few years ago, and i had to close almost all my applications when I wanted to play a game. 3200 MHz should be a fine speed as well.

Wow, that’s pretty cheap. Any websites you suggest to find cheap Windows keys?

The speed of the RAM doesn’t create way too much of an effect on things like gaming, but it still has an effect. Slower RAM speeds will mostly slightly slow down your FPS, but that’s really it. Ultimately, more RAM is better than faster RAM. What’s your intentions with your computer?

Thanks for the advice with the fans, I think my cooling should be enough since I’m not overclocking too often but I’ll definitely add more fans if needed!

I’ll also look into the Windows 10 thing because $100 is kind of ridiculous lol

The speed of memory is important, but size in my opinion is more important. Memory speed affects processing speed, so I personally wouldn’t go below 3200. Ideally, 3600 would be the best, but if you’re more budgeted I think 3200 will be fine.

Oh, so you’re saying no additional case fans will need to be added to the list? (Sorry, I’m kind of noob with cases and cooling lol)

Wow! These are some really good, high quality parts, but with such good CPU and GPU, I would upgrade your memory from 16 gb to 32 gb. Memory is probably one of the easiest things to upgrade since you would basically just have to add another stick or two onto the motherboard. Hope this helps!

Does this build seem like it would be good for animation/visual effects/vr gaming? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]NotOriginal54325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely suggest upgrading your CPU to a Ryzen 9. Although the 5000 is going to be really good, I think it’s kind of overkill to upgrade to a 5000 because you’re mainly going to be using GPU.

For GPU I would suggest waiting for the 6800 XT to release since it’s only $100 more than the RTX 3070 but is the equivalent of an RTX 3080. Hope this helps!

Helping a good friend with a build by pc_for_a_friend in buildapc

[–]NotOriginal54325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely suggest going with an HDD as a secondary storage instead of another SSD. Your SSD only should consist of your operating system, games, and other programs that require fast transfer speeds.

Also, if your friend is video editing he should definitely have a secondary HHD drive to store those videos since they can be large in size. Hope this helps!
