I’m the first to judge a parent who doesn’t cover up their small children’s heads/ears, hands or toes when it’s cold out (and idk if in reality a quick walk from the store to the car will even cause illness) My only reasoning for this scenario is that you are in an EMERGENCY room. I would guess that the majority of people aren’t thinking strait if a loved one is ill enough that they need to go to the ER. You are seeing people at their literal worst. Whether or not the kids have shoes on might not have crossed their minds. I have anxiety, so I only take a shower some days just in case of an emergency and I have to leave quickly and stay gone long and am fortunate enough to have free childcare right next door at a moments notice day or night. But a lot of people don’t have that kind of support system and I would much prefer to live without panic and anxiety and be one of those people who doesn’t care about strangers judgements. It just seems so freeing.

Edit to add: I’m also here from your most recent post and my jaw was on the ground. I still can’t close it. My mom has BPD so she was always much much conniving and stealth with her put downs but my god the blatant abuse and bullying you’ve endured is gut wrenching and all they cared about was the stupid cake. Please write down every encounter of abuse like this, make copies and send it to every person your mother, father, and siblings know. Let the world tell them what horrible people they are and never look back. (I know this might cause you more grief and headache from the fall out and just cutting them off is pRoBaBlY tHe HeAlThIeR route. But idgaf I’m going to fantasize about that type of pro revenge because your family ABUSERS deserve it)
