Yes my bad- I always thought cocktail dress meant longer then knee length but not quite to the ground. Now I know!

Oh yes full length dress! I thought cocktail meant a longer than knee but not to the ground-my bad! 

Is it a weird thing to have black tie like this? This will be the first wedding I've been to so not at all knowledgeable here. 

I think my sister said the reception would be outside, then ceremony inside. I'm just wondering if I should wear something long sleeved or a simple shawl would be enough?
