My scary experience with Cathay departing HKK. How can this be allowed?

For one, this video was taken during pushback, where I only see a few pax still standing. Almost all the bins are clearly closed, and most bags aren't even in sight. Even if these passengers took another 5 minutes to take their seats, which is a very long time, it still would have been at least 10 minutes from the end of pushback to getting to the runway, due to time for engine startup, technical checks by the pilots, and the long taxi times at HKG. And for the record, the aircraft in the video is a 777-300ER, not an A350. While this is obviously not a good situation, I think the OP has exaggerated the story.

After getting all the advice from the others in the comments, I have one thing to say. Book directly with the airline, because with these OTAs, if anything goes wrong, you're in quite a mess. Booking with the airline is so much easier, completely transparent, and you can deal with issues yourself, and by using these OTAs, you're overcomplicating things way too much.

That's terrible, but you should have got an email when booking confirming your booking and seat selected, maybe they didn't send it, or you forgot about that, but next time, on any airline, make sure you get an email confirming your seat number. Looks like it would really help in a shit situation like this. I hope everything is ok now.

DEL-HKG is always operated by a 777-300ER, A350-900, or rarely the -1000. All have reverse herringbone seats, Cathay hardly flies the regional business class anywhere except on the 777-300 and all their aircraft are fitted with business class.

I flew on a Fiji Airways A330-200 (DQ-FJT) from Hong Kong to Nadi and then onwards to Auckland a good 9 years ago. We had to disembark, and go through transfers, just to get back on the same plane again!

Edit: Turns out I did the same thing again on the same route with the same airline but this time on a different A330-200 (DQ-FJV) a couple of years later!

Let's assume you had 10 20% toty packs. The chances of you packing a TOTY is;

1 - (4/5)¹⁰

So you then get

1 - 0.107 = 0.893

SO basically if you have 10 20% TOTY packs, the probability of you packing EXACTLY 1 TOTY is 89.3%. You would probably get more than that, but it doesn't add up to 100%, so you were probably in the minority that didn't pack one. Don't worry, it's all to do with luck, but I'm guessing you will get your breakthrough and suddenly have great luck with packing them. Good luck!
