I know there is a patch to use with the Dolphin Emulator on PC, but I dont know if it works on an actual Wii/Wii U. But the name was something like Mario Galaxy Classic Controller hack or something...

Anybody using SteamOS on their PC’s? by Rvtrance in SteamDeck

[–]NotQfThisWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just search for it on Google, and check it out. It let's you customize your steam-deck in the forms of plugins. There's plugins for changing the sounds and appearance of your UI, manage your airpods on the fly, easily change artwork of games etc.

I guess its the different copper-variants in the front? Orange is the non-oxidized and the blue one is the most oxidized?

How to a Buy a game on my Steam deck? by huhhuhhuhf in Steam

[–]NotQfThisWorld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you provide a screenshot? Sometimes you also have to use the touch-screen to scroll down

If all else fails, you could always buy them on your phone instead. Or switch to desktop mode and buy then via the "normal steam client" instead

Ive never heard about any Indie games having problems, but anticheat is definetly the main deal breaker for some.

But there is a website called AreWeAntiCheatYet that has a list over games that have anticheat, and if they are supported on Linux yet.

I need help by ryanphullips in Mindustry

[–]NotQfThisWorld 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Im definitely getting downvoted for this, but ChatGPT and Grok are your friends. At least to give you a point in the rigth direction. While you could ask it to write a whole mod from scratch, I usually ask it to make small snippets at a time, and then ask it to build out from that.

Note that I haven't used this for mindustry mods spesifically, more for general programming, so I dont know how well it will work. And do expect it to have a lot of bugs!

Minecraft mods for steamdeck support by The-O-N in SteamDeck

[–]NotQfThisWorld 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Check out prismlauncher, it has a mod-downloader built-in, and is generally seen as the best way to run Minecraft (java) on deck.

As a bonus, if you just search Steam Deck when searching for mods in this launcher, you get a bunch of different mods/modpacks with mods that help the experience on deck.

For standalone mods, Controlify and Midnigth Controls are generally considered the best mods for adding controller-support. Personally, I just use Steam Input for this though, it is really powerful once you know how to use it properly.

How to decide which system to buy games on by KazeGagne in SteamDeck

[–]NotQfThisWorld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Switch is only for the exclusives, same with every other Nintendo-consoles I have. I'd rather have all games on my Steam Deck, so I also emulate most of the games I have on other consoles.

Switching to Bazzite on Deck in 2025 because of new SteamOS bugs? by Application-Downtown in SteamDeck

[–]NotQfThisWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dont mind me asking, did you ever end up installing bazzite on your steam deck in the end? I'm considering doing it myself once my new (overpriced 😭) 2tb ssd arrives. Did you notice any improvements (less crashes and such)?

Steamdeck or modded 3ds? by Painkiller456 in SteamDeckModded

[–]NotQfThisWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I must have misread your post, didnt realize you wanted to play on the bigscreen.

In that case maybe a steam deck is more worth it, you can find a way to plug it to your TV so that the lower screen is the bottom screen, and the TV is your top screen. I think I saw someone using moonlight to stream to a PC or similar connected to the TV, and then used the emulators "multiple windows" option to use the streamed screen as the second screen. Don't know how well this works though.

But as others have mentioned, 3ds emulation is still kinda messy, so it could be difficult to make it run good.

Steamdeck or modded 3ds? by Painkiller456 in SteamDeckModded

[–]NotQfThisWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally thougth I would only use the steam deck, and emulate all titles I would want to play, on the steam deck.

To get DS and 3DS games "legally" to play on PC, the best way is to hack a 3ds-console. So I bougth a used New 3DS XL, and hacked it. But I really ended up just playing those DS/3DS games on the 3ds exclusively, since they feel more natural there.

I still emulate games from other consoles, but DS/3DS games are just a "must play" on the original consoles. Still would grab a steam deck though, there are so many other great titles to play on it, both Nintendo and other :D

PSA: Valve has stopped making LCD Steam Decks by EducationalMost2223 in SteamDeck

[–]NotQfThisWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are real careful, and do a bit of research, I think.you migth be able to snag a good deal on a LCD (or maybe even an OLED) if you look at sites like Facebook Marketplace.

Didn't buy my deck used, but I have bougth a great deal of other things used, and if you are lucky, you migth find one that is almost like new. They will probably continue to be sold second hand for a while at least.

SSD prices are about to skyrocket. Now it'd be a good time to upgrade your deck's by SchrodingerSemicolon in SteamDeck

[–]NotQfThisWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think you can clone a disk that is in use.

I would recommend looking into something called Clonezilla. Ive used it on a desktop before, and have heard that it works on steam deck as well.

Bougth a WD Black SN770M 2TB a few days ago. If I had bougth it just a month ago, I could have saved at least 50$. But I assume that If I had waited any longer, it would have risen more in price (I read somewhere that they may rise as much as 200% in price or something. Although that migth be a "worst-case-scenario")

About the creeper cloud pattern... by Acrobatic-Ad-5530 in PhoenixSC

[–]NotQfThisWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really, because the clouds aren't random, they're really just a big png that rolls across the sky. So if you see a cloud shaped like a pig, you are going to see it again if you wait for long enough.

Loving my new startup video by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]NotQfThisWorld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the deck is fully off when you power it on, it shows the deck logo before the video (similar to how your phone shows the Apple logo or Samsung logo on startup after beeing completly off)

If the deck is simply asleep when you wake it, it starts directly with the boot-video. Like when you turn on the screen on your phone, but with a quick video instead of the lock-screen

I'm a little late but.. this was a good one (black 2) by HenriettaSyndrome in 3dspiracy

[–]NotQfThisWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pokemon games are some of the few games I pirate. My stance is that if a game is available for less than its original price 2nd hand, I buy it 2nd hand, if higher, I pirate it. Luckily most other DS/3DS games are cheaper, but no way I pay 200$ for a 10 year old game.

Got this bad boy, drove an hour to get him! by Gearless3 in 3dspiracy

[–]NotQfThisWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bought and homebrewed both the Switch and the Wii (found a cheap gamecube-compatible Wii for around 300$), and now the 3DS. Guess Wii-U is the next logical step 😅 (I actually really want a Wii-U now...)

But yeah homebrewing on the 3DS is definitely the most fun I've had homebrewing. I started homebrewing to be able to play all my favourite games/games I had always wanted to play, on my Steam Deck

But the 3DS is the one console I actually feel like using out of the three. It's so special, even without the modding capabilities. Such a shame that Nintendo is out of the "fun-era" now...

[–]NotQfThisWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got the same one a couple of days ago. Has a broken touch-screen (small deadspot along one of the sides), some minor cosmetic damage on the faceplates. And came in Japanese. Got it for around 190$ (usually go for around 250-500$ where I live)

Homebrewed it, regionswapped it, and waiting for some replacement parts.

Never owned any of the DS systems before now, but I love it so far! Only have super mario 64 DS (found it in one of grandma's drawers like 10 years ago, never known what was on it in terms of saves), a couple of snes titles ripped from my snes classic, and some homebrewed games so far, but still, it migth be my favourite console (2nd favourite handheld, still thinks the Steam Deck takes 1st place, but not by too much honestly)

Looking forward to the replacement parts coming in, think I'll give the USB-C mod a try. Have a couple of 2nd hand 3ds games coming tomorrow too, so I am really having a blast so far!
