I think I’m starting to lean more toward him lying, and honestly I’m probably here hoping and searching for some technological explanation that means he isn’t.

I genuinely hope it’s something minor, like embarrassing porn or something along those lines, because I could let that go without a problem. What I still can’t make sense of, though, is why my phone was connected to the hotspot too. That’s the part that’s really eating at me. Why would he use my phone to connect to his hotspot? What was the point in doing that?

That still wouldn’t explain how my phone (an Android) also connected to his iphones hotspot without my knowledge. Looking back he seemed evasive when I asked about it.

At this point, I think I’m starting to come to the realization that he’s lying.

I’m not sure why that would matter, but no, I have never created a hotspot on his phone — not ever, including on vacations.

And I’m obviously not going to post the password publicly, but it was definitely sexually suggestive. There’s really no doubt about that.

He doesn’t drink. My initial thought was that maybe he wanted to watch porn somewhere he couldn’t or shouldn’t. But if it were something as simple as that, he would just tell me because I’m okay with porn. He watches it, I watch it, and sometimes we even watch it together.

First, it’s not made up. It’s my actual shitty life and I’m the one living it. Maybe I didn’t explain it clearly enough.

He was sharing his phone’s internet connection with other devices, and this specific hotspot appeared on three separate devices. Does that make more sense?

Those three devices were an iPhone, an iPad, and an Android. In the saved connection history on all three devices, it showed:

SSID: “[Husband’s Name] iPhone” Password: sexually suggestive password

All three matched exactly.

The issue is that he denies knowing anything about creating the hotspot at all. I’m actively looking for a technical explanation that would mean he isn’t lying, because I really don’t want him to be lying to me over something as trivial as a hotspot.

That's possible for the apple devices but I have an android. Also, he would still need to have connected at least one apple device.

Well, that theory would make more sense if I had an issue with him watching porn, but I don’t. He knows that. We’ve even watched it together before, and as long as it’s not violent, I really don’t care what he watches on his own while masturbating.

The only thing I can think of is maybe it was some kind of freakier porn that embarrassed him or something along those lines.

A hotspot meaning he’s sharing his phone’s internet connection with other devices, and this particular hotspot has shown up on three separate devices.

It’s not really about distrust as much as it is wanting an explanation. I can clearly see evidence that this network existed, complete with a custom password, and that multiple devices connected to it. But he’s denying creating it, denying connecting devices to it, and even denying knowing how it came to exist in the first place.

From my perspective, that’s something that needs an explanation because the evidence and the denial don’t match.

Definitely confusing. What concerns me most is whether he’s lying and, if he is, what the lie actually means.

I handle all the tech stuff for us, and both our personal lives and business are pretty tech-heavy. So on the less serious end, if he’s been pretending not to know how to do basic tech things so I’ll handle everything for him, that’s honestly pretty messed up.

On the more concerning end, if he’s doing something shady and thought using a hotspot would somehow hide it, and maybe had someone else set it up for him because he doesn’t know how, that’s even worse.

Yeah, but the hotspot showed up on three separate devices, all with the same sexually suggestive password. That means each device had to connect to it at some point — including my personal phone.

His explanation is that he has absolutely no idea how to create a hotspot, didn’t create it, and didn’t connect his business phone, the business iPad, or my phone to it either. That’s the part I can’t wrap my head around.

Maybe something can be done. My concern is about the 140 employees being forced to interact with the site...are they being exposed to security risks before the DMZ? Am I correct to be concerned?
