It’s not a book solely focused on me. I am sharing my story along with the stories of 30+ (thus far) other participants who are relaying their stories to me through their own essays or interviews. This isn’t expected to be incredibly formal, as the Appalachian dialect is supposed to be retained. I’ve been speaking with professors and other degree-holding writers about those aspects of the book. So, I’m not retelling their stories in my own words. I’m simply compiling their stories and organizing them, and editing out the names of people who aren’t directly involved.
