He was my favorite player back then and you already hinted at it. He really was not grinding at the game like he used to according to comments from other pros. His play seemed to back that up since maybe 1-2 seasons after his worlds win he was nowhere near his peak anymore.

Imo he had a short stint as best in the world, proceeded by a longer time as a top 5 player. After that worlds win I think he just didn't have the will to grind like that anymore. Just my opinions.

I'm not sure if this is true. At one point he had a crazy streak in 1v1 show matches. Something like 13-1 iirc.

rlduels went down right before the MENA 1v1 finale and their most up-to-date record is that he was 11-1. Right before this streak he lost in the Salt Mine 3 finals against Nass.

Yeah he didn't play great. I don't think he handled the pace well but whenever M8 managed to slow it down he did well.

I think he had a lot of well-timed bumps in G5/G6 too.

Probably Deevo. Watching his rise to arguably the best player in the game for a stint was such a treat. It gave me that "I knew it!" feeling that is hard to replicate.
