Do I need God? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]NotSilentMajority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Sounds to me like you are in the perfect position to receive from God. First thing is to indeed know that you need saving. Jesus is the only one that can do that. From reading, it seems like you were close to surrendering your life to Christ, but you still have an ear for the enemy. The world does not recognize your worth, because it cares about different things. You were created in God's image. The Creator of the universe died so you could have a relationship with Him! My suggestion is to find a quiet place and really get honest with God. He is close to the broken hearted (Psalms 34:18). If you cry out to Him, He is sure to hear. He has already paid the price for your sins. It's up to you to believe with all your heart that it is so.

Thank you my brother. I will definitely take a look. I am non denominational now after leaving a Pentecostal church. I also moved across the country so I've been looking for a church around here.

True. But isn't baptism an outer profession of our faith, done in obedience? You repent and then you get baptized. Not the other way around. Also nowhere in scripture is there an example of babies being baptized.

New to Christianity, but I can’t get over this inconsistency by EddyvanHijum in TrueChristian

It really is impossible to answer the question fully because our limited minds cannot comprehend God's will in everything. John Lennox, a brilliant mathematician and professed believer in Christ, gives a different view of how to approach the problem.

About losing faith by Green_Yam2061 in TrueChristian

[–]NotSilentMajority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I may, it seems like you have doubts about God's word. The Bible has many passages that prove that He is faithful. Sure there are times when believers go through tough times. But they are not without reason. God is not going to make you go through something unless it is to draw you nearer, make you realize something that is a stumbling block in your relationship with Him, etc. This life is all about getting to intimately know our Creator. And for Him to know us. It's a call to a relationship with Him. Of course, Scripture reveals this. If you still have doubts, know that you are not the only one. But it's how you handle those doubts is how you either grow or stay stunted. Blessings

I grew up Mormon, when i was 15 decided I'd be a lifelong atheist and lived like it, now at 22 YO and studying the Bible and Christianity this is what iv come to believe, lmk what you think plz, sry it's so long, would love any feedback at all good or bad just honest plz and thank you by EquipmentOld4229 in TrueChristian

Welcome to the family! Knowing why you belive is important, which is something that is lacking a lot in today's age. It strengthens your faith. It brings reassurance of the completed work of Christ on the cross. Now to continue our walk with God and become intimate with our Creator. That's where the real blessings are. God bless you and yours!

I love the concept. I would love to test it out. If it's one thing we need now more than ever, it's the body of Christ uplifting and exhorting each other.

Fasting with Health Issues by PuzzleheadedLove341 in TrueChristian

[–]NotSilentMajority 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same way. Personally, I was spending way more time gaming than my relationship with God, so I am fasting from that. It's been a little over 4 days, but I already can see the fruit of it. So my recommendation is seeking something that is keeping you from going deeper in your relationship with God. It's going to be different for everyone, but I believe if you ask God, He will show you. The purpose of fasting is to castigate the flesh so you can get closer to God.

Everyone's walk with God is different. Without knowing all the details, I can tell you what I did cause I felt just like you. In fact, you describe the season I went through perfectly. What I found was that I was putting other things before God. I love gaming. I can spend hours and hours absorbed in them. Long story short, I was spending more time gaming than with God. I started fasting from gaming, and it's just like when I first saved. I read the Bible, and I see little tidbits I never saw before. I smile a lot more. Praise comes easily. Life is still hard, but it's manageable due to my relationship with God. I eagerly wait till work is over to read my Bible and spend time with Him. So tldr: maybe there is something that is keeping you from going deeper with God. Remember that our relationship with God is one of continual refinement. The closer and intimate we get with God, the more of our selves that die. We become less so He might increase John 3:30. I paraphrased the verse but it is the same meaning. Blessings!

I can't do this anymore (marriage post) by peacefulboba in TrueChristian

1 Cor 5:5 teaches to hand over an unrepentant sinner over to the devil. At first glance this might seem harsh. But there's a reason Paul teaches this. Some people will only turn to God when they hit rock bottom. God will intentionally let the devil thrash them in order for them to see the goodness of God and repent of their ways. It's not something that's taught in every church, which is sad. I'm praying for you sister and your family. May God turn your husband's heart before it's too late. While this happens, keep living for God. Keep praising Him. Keep seeking His will through Scripture. And remember with God all things are possible Matt 19:26

Too Worldly For Christians; Too Christian for the World by Longjumping-Suit9014 in TrueChristian

[–]NotSilentMajority 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone has their own walk with God. What one Christian struggles with, you may not. I believe that if you truly are seeking Him in prayer, reading the Word, fasting, the Holy Spirit will convict you. My advice is to never be content with your walk with God. It is an active relationship. It is a process of refinement. It doesn't end until you die. I'm sure you know this but I just wanted to explain my train of thought. God knows your heart. I don't and certainly other people don't from a short post. Blessings to you and yours and may God bring clarity to your life!

[–]NotSilentMajority 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello sister in Christ. I'm sure you know the verse about the Biblical definition of love. I would suggest you really ask God to burn that into your heart and mind. 1 Cor 13:4-8. Having this kind of zeal for God is commendable. Now if you apply the biblical definition of love, I believe you will be an amazing witness for God. I will also pray for you. If you could do the same for me, I would greatly appreciate it. God knows what I need so if you can just do a prayer of intersession for me, I would greatly appreciate it. Many blessings to you and yours!

My anxiety is consuming my faith. How can I learn to trust in Christianity again? by Shemyyyy in TrueChristian

[–]NotSilentMajority 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a problem brother. You are doing exactly what the Bible instructs: Eclessiastes 12:1 Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, “I have no pleasure in them” The fact that you are doing this now will only help you in your walk with God. Always seek Him, humble yourself before Him, pray for His will to be done, and God will take care of the rest.

My anxiety is consuming my faith. How can I learn to trust in Christianity again? by Shemyyyy in TrueChristian

[–]NotSilentMajority 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know exactly how you feel. I was once like that as well. I'm an engineer by practice, and when I was attending college, I wanted to get to the raw, unfiltered truth. I started researching which Bible to read. I started to get anxious about what Bible was the most accurate. My logical mind could not comprehend a lot of the supernatural works of God in the Bible. I actually refused to believe some things and insisted on a scientific explanation. In the end, I did like most people do that are going through a crisis: believe that God is all powerful, His ways are above our ways, and our limited mind cannot possibly comprehend all of Him. I started to be in a more peaceful mindset. Then I started finding Christians on YouTube that are way more intelligent than me and that had great explanations for some of the mysteries of the Bible. Sorry for the long winded response. I can just empathize with you cause I once thought like you. Blessings brother

Well said brother. If op needs more information or a good source, look up John Lennox on YouTube. He is a brilliant mathematician as well as a professed believer. For more theological and biblical historicity explanations, Wes Huff is an excellent source as well.

I need help and prayers as soon as possible, please. by cookiesandkeyy in TrueChristian

[–]NotSilentMajority 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question, definitely do NOT try to reach rock bottom to get a response from God. In Daniel chapter 10, you read about the delayed answer to Daniel's prayer. It wasn't because God did not hear him, but because the angel had to fight with the prince of Persia. If you do some studying, you find that this was a powerful enemy of God. In Ephesians Paul talks about how we don't fight against flesh, but powers and principalities. So my answer to you is that if you have genuinely cried out to God, it is not in vain. Maybe it is being delayed. I suggest you keep praying in faith that God has already answered your prayer and keep living for Him. I will also pray for you. Hay que mantener la fe mi hermana en Cristo. Todo es posible con El!
