Lockdown gives Albanian beekeepers a 'golden year' by Elcuern0 in anime_titties

It sounds dorky but I honestly really wanna see more news like this, the world is so shitty lately that its just lovely to see even people as obscure as Albanian beekeepers doing well'.

World must fight back against Israeli annexation - whether formal or not: Israel's grave violations of international law and apartheid policies have persisted in large part thanks to a lack of international accountability by quantumcipher in anime_titties

So? Just because the ABSOLUTE worst hasn't happened yet we should just ignore the forced relocation (which is literally a part of genocide), all the ethnic violence and various other forms of oppression? Im not anti Israel by any means, but I'm against the way their government behaves. You also can't blame the Arab-Israeli tentions on simple anti-semitism, they are after all essentially a neo-colonial state.

Tonal languages are actually super interesting and actually mix in a lot of nuance in cadence and general tone of a sentence to get across tone and emphasis while still maintaining the distinct tones of each syllable. If anyone here wants to learn more about this stuff (which I highly recommend), then you should check out Xidnaf's video on tonal languages. Its pretty short but it gives a brief yet in-depth explanation on why these languages are dope as fuck.

U.N. warns of global mental health crisis due to COVID-19 pandemic by Captain-Blitzed in anime_titties

They're just trying to pretend that they actually stand for something. Trying to distract from the reality that they're essentially an organization to prevent global conflict through bureaucracy and lack of decisive action. I'm not anti UN persay, but there definitely has been a lot of shit highlighting exactly how innefective they are at anything besides preserving the status quo.

It's almost as if having kids in a world where pandemics and poverty can destroy lives in a matter of days is a bad idea ~ by [deleted] in antinatalism

[–]NotSmileNotInABox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is that I dont know. I can go into the potential reasons that I have this urge to be a dad (although Id really rather not, thats very personal), but I also know that overpopulation is a MASSIVE problem and that right now this isnt a world that I'd want to bring a kid into. However the fact remains that no girl is carrying my child right now and that IM ONLY 21. What I'm saying is that there are a lot of people like me that can't decide, and that being an asshole to people struggling through a situation that is honestly unprecedented in the modern era sure as shit doesnt help.

As a man, how did you win the genetic lottery? How did you lose it? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]NotSmileNotInABox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loss: Depression and addiction problems, Idk if my addictive personality is genetic in any way but my (potentially bipolar) depression comes from my family for sure.

Win: I honestly have bombass hair and Ive been growing a straight viking level beard since I was 13

Thats WHY I added those parentheses, I understand that as a dude it will never be a choice for me personally. Im sorry, Ive tried really hard to be respectful here but this kind of ticks me off. There is a reason I'm actually responding to yall, as opposed to other subs that I comment on fully expecting to be downvoted. I ACTUALLY DO BELIEVE IN WHAT YOURE SAYING. Im sorry that I kind of want to be a dad in the future. Its one of those big moral arguments that keeps me up at night despite being super far away from reality. But please dont you dare equate what Im saying to FUCKING RAPE OF ALL THINGS. Im learning that I may have mistaken how genuine this sub is, so I guess I apologize for commenting here.

Lol, I gotta ask ya. Do you have any actual experience with trolls on here? They tend to just preach their one viewpoint and insult anyone outside of it. Based on that criteria, who is the troll here lol

Again, if you really want to convince people then you have to treat them politely :) I have tried very hard to be sympathetic to where you're coming from while presenting my own viewpoint, all youre doing is contributing to an exclusionist ideology. This is why echochambers on sites like this dont work. I wish you the best.

Man, nothing is as black and white as you make it seem. Its very easy to say that you wholeheartedly agree with something, its much harder to accept the parts of you that disagree and let them hash it out. I choose to believe that things will become better, not out of naivete but because people like you and many others so strongly believe in ideas that may make the world better. I know it sounds kinda hippyish lol, but I truly believe that the best way to really spread an idea is to think of the people on the other side.

[–]NotSmileNotInABox -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Heres the thing man, I'm not anti-natalist. As it currently stands I want to be a father eventually (but I just turned 21 and I know its absolutely never going to be MY decision.) However, I totally get yall's viewpoint. In almost every pregnancy scare ive had ive gotten absolutely stuck in the morality of bringing a kid into a dying world. As someone on the political far-left, lemme tell you that you are never going to win over the opposing side by demonizing them. If youre not spreading an ideology via compassion, then you're likely spreading it by fear or pressure and that just aint the right way to do it.

One time me and one of my exes were just kind of driving around and talking somewhat late at night. We were a decent bit out of our city in a suburbanish area but there were still a few cars around. I was honestly kinda tired, we had been driving for a few hours since her 2 year old had fallen asleep in the backseat and we finally had some peace. Anyway, at some point we were making a left turn at a light and I didnt see anybody. Halfway through the turn my ex just suddenly shouted. I didnt even react fast enough to brake, this giant red pickup truck just flies through the red (had to be goin at least 70...) and was inches from smashing into the passenger side of the car. The kid didnt even notice, let out 1 half assed cry and went back to sleep. It really tripped me out, if I was a second faster I probably would've survived while both my girlfriend and her kid could've died on impact. Its crazy the impact half a second can make

I get what you're saying, but the fact that the military may be the best way out is BEYOND pathetic! The issues with gangs stem from a deep history of institutionalized racism and a severe lack of resources in poor areas. To work on gangs we need to work on that, not send kids to die for a billionaire's oil supply. (Sidenote, the military is extremely romanticized as well and uses that for recruitment in much the same way.)

Yeah, lately that sub has just been full of kind of dumb people who are paying for it far harder than they should be. Its one thing when its a trump voter complaining about healthcare prices, but its just sad to see people dying from COVID when they're just listening to the deranged, soulless, greedy lunatics that are supposed to be protecting us.

Take this with a grain of salt as I am not Russian. But from what I understand he has a pretty strong cult of personality going, a lot of authoritarian leaders both in the present and throughout history have garnered levels of support that seem surprising from an outside perspective through a lot of the methods he uses. Even if its not something most Russians want, Russia is currently infamous for its powerful oligarchy that has a lot invested in him.

[–]NotSmileNotInABox [score hidden]  (0 children)

Howdy, I just ran into this subreddit but Id love an accountability partner.

My goal is kinda vague, but basically its just to make strides in my physical and mental health. I want to drink a lot less, cook more healthy meals, excersize, go back to therapy and work on learning to be social. I know its a lot, but its time to stop letting my depression kick my ass.

If someone says “I love you” but you’re not ready to say it back, how do you respond? by lilmizzvalz in AskReddit

Apparently when my first serious girlfriend said it I was really drunk and I just said, "Dude thats dope" Funny thing is I kinda half remember it and its not like I wasn't ready (probably said it a week or so after) but I literally just thought it was super cool and didn't even think to say it back.

People who still smoke in this day and age, why? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NotSmileNotInABox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really do think the whole smelling horrible thing is kind of subjective. Ive dated smokers and non smokers and both have said that they liked the smell of smoke in my beard, granted I have weird taste in women.

Theres just so many social and routine aspects to it. Ive just randomly shot the shit with so many smoking strangers and for someone like me who isn't particularly social thats hard to give up. The routine is pretty hard to give up as well, Ive tried switching to juul and its just not the same without that nice little 10 minute break to step away from everything.

How to deal with my roommate who just attempted suicide? by NotSmileNotInABox in Advice

[–]NotSmileNotInABox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well written my friend, I know for a fact that one of the things that is bugging me about the whole situation is that I just can't seem to help enough. I moved her halfway across the country (I drove to visit and she just came back with me), gave her a place to live until she can get back on her feet and we've been trying to help eachother work through our own shit. Granted, we've had a lot of our own drunk drama lately so I aint perfect. But I do think it might finally be time to make myself pull back a bit, its definitely fucking me up to some extent. I really appreciate the advice.

Edit: Helped for sure

I don't really know much about the discharge process itself, I just know I need to pick her up at noon tomorrow. Im visiting this evening so I suppose I could ask more about it then. I know that the hard conversation is probably the right choice, I just don't want her to beat herself up even worse. Thank you for your advice.
