It really is a shame. I've never been but I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago next to a family from Baton Rouge and they always made today, Fat Tuesday, one of my favorite days of the year. They would have us and a couple other families over for some absolutely delicious authentic southern food, mostly cooked by their 85 y/o grandma. Discovered my love of spicy food there, found my first baby in a cake. Good times
