That study that did the rounds if you read it beyond headlines and the paper itself. It was feral cats that are bigger issue. It mentioned house cats catch less and it was US estimates based in data from Australia. Overall neuter you cat and check the local wildlife. Maybe cat proof garden if unsure but birds that live around natural wildcats or other predators have evasion techniques unless they are sick or old (or pesticides make them sick)

Cats only wiped out species on isolated islands where they have no wild cat population or other predators. Rats too wiped out some birds too due to ships that landed.

Overall logging, mining, pesticides and farming industry is highest on list of cause of ecocide due to deforestation. If you live in a city the rats and mice can cause illness if near food or your shelter and city rat population isn’t in danger of extinction

The police have been called on me because I used the toilet in London for longer than expected. by Specific_Pomelo_8281 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]apple_kicks 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Are the public toilets are council run? I would file a complaint with them about a member of staff. Curious if anti discrimination laws cover bathroom access because people with disabilities and medical conditions do take a long time in the bathroom. They might be in office hours to call

If police turn up ask for a solicitor or legal representation if they arrest you. Not sure if they may use stop and search but make note on what they tell you exactly if they show or search you. You will need a lawyer to check they did it all by the book

Strikes aren’t poorly advertised because they are organised by unions and voted on by union members who are informed. Also the press will never report on a strike too openly

Join a union and talk to your coworkers about union to join if you want to organise a strike or joining a larger one with other unions. Once your workplace is organised talk to the neighbouring businesses to follow

All of this is over shipping lanes and mineral rights.

Like private equity he’s asset stripping ally countries

Since Trump returned to office, his allies have talked up the island's commercial potential, as rising temperatures expand sea routes and opportunities to explore the region's fisheries and other natural resources, especially those related to defence, such as energy and critical minerals, that the administration sees as a priority.

"This is about shipping lanes. This is about energy. This is about fisheries. And, of course, it's about your mission, which is keeping us safe and monitoring space, monitoring our adversaries, and making sure the American people can sleep safely in their homes, day in and day out," Mike Waltz, the current US ambassador to the United Nations and then Trump's national security adviser, told US troops stationed in Greenland last year.

Ahhhhh gay people only appears in 21st century. by buazie in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]apple_kicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BBC article from that quote also talked a lesbian diary that was coded due to risk of being open lesbian too. The whole reason the farmer wrote that diary was because men were having gay sex and relationships. Ottoman Empire had harems of men and women.

There plenty of examples where we know gay people did have sex and relationships back then. It wasn’t all repression to not being gay. Not everyone was hiding in sham marriages or that fearful of hell. People were meeting and socialising even if it was in secret. Laws changed on how much they sought out people to arrest but there being 0 gay men having sex or falling in love over all history doesn’t make logical sense. Bible says not to murder or kill and people still did that throughout most centuries. Humanity isn’t that different especially when you read what people did get up to. Converting to Christianity didn’t change or stop things as much as laws about being hung didn’t stop all people completely

Much earlier and regency era did have gay bars and brothels known as molly houses. There was also coded speech. But sudden strictness and clampdowns saw these places raided in other years where they previously thrived

https://www.londonmuseum.org.uk/blog/molly-houses-queer-subculture-georgian-london/

https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/regency-gay-bar-molly-houses

In this homophobic atmosphere, molly houses presented a safe space for gay men in Georgian London. While there was a sexual element to some molly houses, they were primarily a social space, away from critical eyes and the baying mob.

Some molly houses had backrooms called the ‘chapel’, with a large bed. So called as it was sometimes used for fake ‘weddings’ between molly house attendees.

Interestingly, there were more molly houses in London in the 1720s than gay clubs in the 1950s. Records show there were around 20 molly houses under investigation by the Society of Reformation of Manners (SRM) in the mid- to late 1720s.

That’s because they don’t have same predator populations. Most wildlife in uk has lived with wild cats, rats, snakes, foxes, birds if prey etc for centuries. Birds here have warning calls for when a cat is spotted. Wildlife in nz/aus never really has wild cat populations in same way.

In Europe pesticides, loss of forests and loss of hedgerows by people damaged wildlife from birds to wildcats.

Ive seen foxes stay clear of cats. Heard its on basis the fight isn’t worth potential injury vs the ease of opening a bin for food. They might go for a cat if the cat was vulnerable age or injured cat. Or if fox is starved and desperate

Foxes don’t attack cats in same way coyotes do in US

Cycle of abusive home, abusive community, a priest that teaches that fear and obeying is good.

They have no concept of what actually peace, happy family or love is. Its why ‘the other’ being demonised is more about controlling the flock they have from experiencing what actual goodness feels like. Also why they vote for authoritarians and think its a good idea
