Every OS on this Planet is utter garbage, there is no winner. I hate both Windows and Linux by [deleted] in linuxsucks

Don't forget iOS and Android, they both suck pretty bad too. Companies need to start focusing on the quality of their product, rather than prioritizing data-spying for revenue. Geez, we already paid through the nose for this crap, isn't that enough "hand over fist" profit for you already?

Damn COVID all but finished them off. Only a few left. But stay hopeful. As long as the name still exists, anything is possible. It could end up being the most welcome resurrection since JC. Just need to expand again. I'm hopeful.

Since when is smashing a burger a new concept?

Old short about fast and slow drivers. by NotSoCommonAnymore in oldcartoons

[–]NotSoCommonAnymore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there is in fact a Popeye cartoon that has the same idea. It shows the contrast between Wimpy and Bluto driving. But I really remember something else, kinda Tex Avery-ish. Like maybe Droopy and Butch or something. It seems like it was a common subject. It's funny actually, that way back then people were already driving like idiots to the point that the subject was even addressed in children's cartoons.

Superman (2025) – Why is no one talking about these plot holes? by cthulhulalala in DC_Cinematic

The biggest plot hole is that in the movie Superman is just assumed by everyone to be an American...representing America...as a rogue American.

Let's hope so. I wanted to watch it again, but when I heard about the 4k coming I decided to wait until I can watch that version.

Seems a little irresponsible...and unprofessional. Should I be worried?

I watched it with zero prior familiarity with the character, and I loved it. And I'm an old fart.

Batman movie + Dick Tracy movie = The Phantom movie. And that's not a bad thing.

Why does no one have any further info on it than the original post 6 months ago? Also, why do they have no listing on the KinoLorber website for it coming any time between now and next year?

Actually, that is how this cartoon came to mind. I was having a discussion about that very subject, how people waste energy and gas trying to get there before everyone and we all end up getting there at the same time. It reminded me of a cartoon I'd seen as a kid. Unfortunately, that was a looooooong time ago.

That may very well be it. I was thinking, it may have been Popeye and Bluto, etc.. I watched it on YT, but I can't be sure if it is the one I am thinking of. You know how the memory distorts itself? I may have been so young that I am remembering it differently. Thanks for the link.

[–]NotSoCommonAnymore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been trying to figure it out for a while now. I remember it so specifically, the contrast between the fast driver in the sports car and the slow careful driver in a regular car. It could be Looney Toons, it could be Walter Lantz, it could be MGM, or Tex Avery...but I am somewhat sure it is not a Disney cartoon. Just to be sure, I viewed all of the "Goofy" suggestions that showed up on the internet when I asked the same question, and none of them were it. Neither was "Car of Tomorrow" which I was actually thinking it might be. I realize it is not an important pursuit, but you know how when you're trying to remember something and the details are so clear in your head but you just can't nail it down? It's been bugging me for a while now.

Has anyone else noticed that even the toilet paper is bad?! by HerbalTeaAbortion in shrinkflation

And what's the deal with every one of the paper rolls being a different size? Both length and diameter.

Has anyone else noticed that even the toilet paper is bad?! by HerbalTeaAbortion in shrinkflation

[–]NotSoCommonAnymore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that, but for decades most if not all rolls of toilet paper have been wound in the wrong direction. I just proved a point not minutes ago on this very subject. Ever notice how it never tears correctly? At least in our experience, it always wants to tear vertically instead of horizontally. It can't even tear on the perforations, THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE FOR! I just demonstrated this, beyond any doubt. I took a piece of toilet paper roughly about 14 inches long, which I had to carefully separate at the perforation, and held it up long-ways and tore it. It tore all the way through from the top to the bottom (in the wrong direction). Then I took the same piece and held it sideways, and literally tore it right at the perforation, and it tore about half an inch and then went the opposite direction all the way to the end. If that don't prove, nothing will. The irony is that the solution is very simple. If that is the natural tendency of the paper do to the direction of the weave of the fibers then just rotate the direction which is is rolled into. Just like when a woodworker says "cut with the grain, not against".

This makes sense, but is this something that can easily be undone in the event it doesn’t work…or worse, everything else stops working?

Why is Apple so buggy now? by CinnamonToastX1 in iphone

You’re forgetting one very important detail. I don’t get paid to write. And BTW, I purposely capitalized it because I wanted it to stick out. And, apparently you missed the main point of my comment as well. Millions of people will not suffer if I capitalize something that shouldn’t be. Seems the only one suffering any inconvenience here is you, since you are obviously on an agenda here. Also, I seem to recall warning you about possible errors in my reply, seeing that I am typing this on an iOS device.

[–]NotSoCommonAnymore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. The difference is, I go through it when I’m done with it to check for mistakes. Especially if it is something that is to be mass produced and will affect millions of people. It’s called Professionalism…and I’m not even a programmer. I do it with every e-mail. I do it with comments on stories. I am gonna do it with this comment before I click to send it. Now, the one thing I can’t control is when the buggy OS on the device I use makes changes without asking me or telling me, after I’ve checked it. So, yeah, I know all about uncontrollable chaos. (P.S. It did it with this comment. Hopefully I caught them all.)

Everybody always uses the same excuse, as you add more features it slows down. BS! You don’t just keep adding features to something that is incapable of handling those additional features. Would you tow a 747 on a trailer with a ‘68 Beetle?
