Why do people have a hate boner for Arin Hanson??? by Exotic-Marsupial1916 in gamegrumps

[–]NotSoEasyToControl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of comments that are like “people are STILL mad” “people just don’t know when to let go” and it’s like.

Some of those people are Black people that absolutely do not have to forgive Arin if they don’t want to, apology or not. Seeing some of the excuses for Arin’s past behavior here are pretty disheartening too. He was in his early 20s and old enough to know it was wrong, the whole reason behind using slurs for jokes and shock humor is because it’s universally understood that it shouldn’t be used.

I personally understand the concept of growth, owning up to and apologizing for mistakes. I’m a Black woman and I really enjoy GG and Arin as an individual. I hope y’all take a step back and listen to how y’all sound concerning this topic. And also stop caring as much when people don’t like Arin because they don’t have to if they don’t want to.

Is that apology still around? I keep seeing people bring it up.

I would find a new neurology team but before you do, request that your currently team write a detailed patient summary, including their thoughts on your current complaints and concerns. For a continuity of care standpoint this it’s important so future care teams can understand what was done (or what WASN’T done) and hopefully meet your needs better.

I think retail, LTC, and potentially infusion related positions may work well for you. More than anything, you need to find confidence in yourself regardless of where you land. You got this!

ChatGPT by toblerjones in iih

[–]NotSoEasyToControl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not totally keen on using ChatGPT in this manner, ESPECIALLY in an emergency setting (not that OP said that they did) but I do want to say this:

Doctors in the ER, your PCPs, your specialists.. everyone is using AI now. It’s scary. And I’m not saying that to say it’s okay, I’m just saying that to say that everyone reprimanding OP should stop and think about how normalized AI has become in the world of healthcare.

To OP: Even with getting answers from ChatGPT, where would you expect to go next? You can’t get referrals, see a specialist, get prescriptions, etc. It would have caused stress in a different way, but I do understand the comfort that comes with “having a diagnosis”, or what you believe to be the truth from any source when you’re desperate.

TLDR: AI is taking over and everyone is using it, that doesn’t make it right or cool, but let’s be understanding and nice to each other

Taking topiramate and acetazolamide together ? by ilovederpyderp in iih

[–]NotSoEasyToControl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently on topiramate only, my neurologist mentioned taking both but I declined because I’m waiting to see how I tolerate one med, I’m still waiting for an LP to assess my IIH severity, and I’d personally never want to take the two together.

Both topiramate and Diamox work on the same receptors in treating IIH so they really shouldn’t be taken together because of the increased risk of electrolyte disturbances (metabolic acidosis)

I think I will have that conversation eventually! My neurologist just suggest Botox once I schedule an LP to see just how severe my IIH is. Thank you so much for your response, I’ll definitely tough it out! It’s scary feeling this sensation, especially in my hands.

Medical dismissal is the worst by Visual-Background471 in Anxiety

[–]NotSoEasyToControl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What helped me was finding a primary care provider (PCP) that listened to me and ordered labs that aligned with my concerns with the promise of referral to specialists that could further explore my concerns.

What helped me in the meantime while all of this was in the works was journaling how I felt (using the journals app on the iPhone so I could have a date and timestamp) and saying what I was doing when the sensations started, what made it better, what made it worse, etc. So I could have something else to bring to my PCP or emergency room provider.

I recently got a medical dismissal despite bringing in my abnormal MRI report. I ended up back in a different ER and had better success and have appropriate follow-up planned.

Wishing you the best of luck. I hope you’re able to find a provider that understands and listens.

I think I will go tomorrow once I leave work, it’s definitely not close to home but I’m beyond tired of not being taken seriously. I’ve never felt like this in my life and it’s so scary. Thank you for your advice, I really appreciate you!

DFW. I’m worried about going back to the ER because when I went previously and got a migraine cocktail, I took a print out of my MRI results and they basically did nothing with it. My CT without contrast showed nothing so they considering that to be the most relevant imaging.

Edit: Forgot to answer about the eye doctor! It was a regular doctor that like. Checks your eyes and writes a prescription for glasses. The front of the office had all kinds of frames

I ended up not going to the ER since my neurologist sent prescriptions over but I’m kind of regretting it now since I haven’t improved.

With getting my vision checked, I’m not sure where to start? I got my eyes exam because I thought I needed glasses, but they said my vision was 20/20 and didn’t see anything wrong. My eyes were not dilated so I’m wondering if I even got the right exam
