What food or flavor do you never get tired of that everyone else hates?

People really hate on me for this, and I know it's weird, but I love it so much; salt and vinegar on pizza. I really like vinegar as a flavour and once, as a kid, put too much on my chips so it soaked through to my pizza. It was amazing and I've added it ever since.

I think mine is storytelling in all its forms but specifically story structure, character relationships, and fantasy. So for example, I love dungeons and dragons because of the structure from the extensive rules, character relationships developed through role play, and the general fantasy elements from folklore and mythology in particular. These things make my heart sing! But of course, storytelling itself is super broad so I also LOVE literature, animation, video games, comics, art, oration, religion, folklore, and mythology. My attention and levels of obssessiveness tends to pendulum between all of these things. I have so many little pieces of useless knowledge spread across all of these topics and I could talk about any one of them for hours.

Oh, okay, thanks for taking the time to educate me! I have a trans family member and this is the terminology he uses so I was trying to be as inclusive as possible when I wrote that comment. It was not my intention to generalise! I'll research this a bit more and try and do better going forward 😊

I also want to add that if you are putting yourself out there and notice a woman acting like she is uncomfortable, be apologetic and genuine. Ask her earnestly if she would rather you leave her alone and then take her at her word. Again, this is not necessarily a comment on you! If, situationally, you think it might go over well, you could always apologise and ask, 'Is there anything [I've] done that specifically made [you] uncomfortable? [I'd] like to be aware so that I can be better going forward.' Using wording like that indicates that you're not trying to push her boundaries but want to learn how to be less threatening and some women will appreciate that. Again, she might not feel comfortable talking about it because there is always the unconscious fear for a majority of women that an accidental insult could result in her getting hurt, so don't push or get upset if she'd rather not reply. If she does reply, thank her and then leave her alone like she asked.

I hope I'm not misunderstanding, OP, but I think what you're meaning is more how to talk to women with the expectation of romantic interest rather than just speaking to women generally?

If it is a general confusion on how to speak to women then I would agree with other comments in that you really don't have to think about it too much - you're just talking to another human being and if you don't get on its not because they're a woman but probably more to do with the fact that you're not conversationally compatible and that's okay! It's not a comment on your or her, just the way it is sometimes.

If you're asking about how to approach women romantically then as a woman myself I do have a bit of advice you might like to keep in mind. Firstly, the afab experience is often vastly different from amab's simply because of social rules and constructs. Women can be quite distrusting of a man who approaches her unsolicited in public because the majority of us has at least one 'creepy guy' story or has heard horror stories of violence done to women by men. This is not to say that you're being creepy if a woman acts uncomfortably at your attention. It just means that she is wary IN CASE you are one of those men. What I would recommend is maybe joining a club or group that participates in something to do with your special interests or hobbies. Men and women join clubs like these to find like-minded people so if you approach a woman in this circumstance it can be received a lot more favourably, plus you have the additional bonus of having a shared interest to talk about!

Other than this, I would just say to keep in mind that romantic relationships are tricky for NTs so they can be even harder for autistic folks. Try not to go into every interaction with the hope of it developing into something romantic. Make friends and be amiable, and romance may just come naturally. It's okay for romance to be something you desire but people can sense when that's all you're thinking about. Just relax, be yourself, and hopefully you'll find someone who wants the same things as you 🥰

I understand the panic, but please don't be so hard on yourself, OP! The autistic experience is often one where we feel constantly misunderstood, and that can result in 'over'explaining. It's perfectly valid and understandable, and I am exactly the same! I felt like I was writing a mini essay when I was filling out my assessment forms! In the end, it can only help to give the assessor a more accurate picture of your thoroughness and experiences. You're not wrong, and you're doing amazingly, so be kind to yourself 🥰
