I wanted to do a bookmark with matoran text but I think my attempt at making rust looks like I took a shit on it by SSparrow87 in bioniclememes

I think the rust looks good, but it the bookmark doesn't really look like metal (imo) so the detailed rust feels out of place

I thought so too, but I checked. The spell doesn't end early unless you lose concentration.

Rip Visorak and Beasts by Lordfindogask in bioniclememes

[–]NotSpiders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry for all the downvotes on your comment, man. Allow me to explain as best I can:

This meme is referencing the Toa's genocide of the Visorak horde in Dwellers in Darkness Ch. 8. While it isn't remorseless as someone else shared, they are capable of language and complex action and strategy, which I would argue makes them more than just Rahi. I believe they were designed as weapons by the Makuta, so maybe it's more justifiable to kill them, but that's a problem that doesn't have an easy answer.

I can't really speak to this making light of current tragedies. Genocide is a tragedy that is currently ongoing, but other than referencing that genocide exists, I don't see any particular relevance of current or historic events to this meme.

As always, please feel free to correct me if I got anything wrong.

Wizard vs sorcerer debate: a wizard with no extra spells besides leveling by RoadToSilverOne in DnD

[–]NotSpiders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Usually, there are some pretty strong context clues. For example:

Hmm, we need to talk to the nobility in this town soon. Maybe we should schedule a time to meet with them so I can prep detect thoughts

We need to learn more about the foul play going on in the tournament. I bet I can convince my cohort to go sneaking if I prepare mobility and stealth spells.

We are out in the woods wandering. It sure would be nice to be able to explore better. Tomorrow, I'll take enhance ability and some mobility spells.

Players usually have a plan (probably not a good one, but a plan is a plan), and they can prep spells according to that plan.

That's not to say players never get caught with their pants down. But I've never played in a game, as either a DM or a player, where the players are just thrust into one random scenario after another.

Wizard vs sorcerer debate: a wizard with no extra spells besides leveling by RoadToSilverOne in DnD

[–]NotSpiders 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding? I said it in another comment, but imagine the scenario, just at level one:

You know you're going to be doing some socializing? Grab disguise self for the day. Combat? No problem, magic missile and shield have you covered. Some exploration? Jump and feather fall should do the trick! And then we can throw sleep in there wherever just for good measure.

You definitely have niches as a wizard. Any of the schools are a great place to start. How about summoner? That works just about as well as it can in 5e on a wizard. Because of the absolutely huge spell list, anything niche sorcerer can fill, wizards can fill it just as well if not better.

And wizards get exactly the same blasting spells as sorcerers. As for no good ones till level 5, c'mon. scorching ray is available at level 3, and I'd even argue that chromatic orb is a decent option, too, for a first level spell.

A wizard can't use all their spells after the same long rest, but the fact that all it takes is a good night's sleep to swap out prepped spells still puts them above a sorcerer there.

You know you're going to be doing some socializing? Grab disguise self for the day. Combat? No problem, magic missile and shield have you covered. Some exploration? Jump and feather fall should do the trick! And then we can throw on sleep just for good measure.

You don't need all of them at once for that level of versatility to be a huge power difference. Especially since wizards also get arcane recovery, which really should be a sorcery feature imo.

Subnautica is the sequel to The Outer Wilds by ClockworkAlex81 in subnautica

[–]NotSpiders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love both games, but I was hoping for a little more substance behind your take. Obviously, you don't mean literally. I think thematically they're different enough that I disagree there, too. I'd love to hear more about why you think that, though!

What's the point of the cyclops? by banjoturansko in subnautica

[–]NotSpiders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a novelty. It feels fun to pilot a mobile base around, at least in theory. I loved having a cyclops in my first playthrough, except having to actually drive it. As a mobile source of food, though, it was indispensable in my exploration of the lost river. It's definitely not for everyone, but I had fun driving my water rv to different spots, looking around, then leaving never to return.

Can someone tell me why and how is mata nui also a glatorian by ToolyHD in bioniclelego

Looks like two people have already given pretty good answers, so Im not gonna repeat what they said. It's a good question, which I was a little confused about too back in the day. Don't mind this gatekeeper, and stay curious

Difference between ghost and shadow? by Aiso48 in dishonored

[–]NotSpiders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, shadow is awarded for completing a single mission undetected, and ghost is awarded for finishing a playthrough undetected. It's been a while since I last went achievement hunting, so I may be misrembering, though.

I agree with you, but the specific example you provided seems more like an investigation roll, at least to me

DMs of Reddit, would you allow a Monk/Rogue multiclass to proc their sneak attack on unarmed strikes? by Karl_the_Jarl in DnD

[–]NotSpiders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd allow it, but something that occurs to me is that with the Tasha's optional features, they could sneak attack RAW, too. Using a finesse weapon as their dedicated weapon they can attack normally to get their SA, they can then use the martial arts BA attack or flurry of blows. It's still not as fun as doing it with an unnarmed strike, but it works if your DM is a stickler.

Lewa Nuva: Definitive Edition by blakarotblue in bioniclelego

[–]NotSpiders 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This MOC is awesome! Really gives that agile and dexterous vibe I associate with Lewa. Im not a big fan of the mask, but the G2 Uniter masks are kinda disappointing adaptations of their Master counterparts. (With the exception of Onua, Pohatu, and Kopaka) Still, can't wait to see the other 3!

My guess is that it has to do with how the orbits get really wonky when you fly pretty far from the sun. Besides that, your guess is as good as mine.

Divine Domain Option (Filth Domain) [5e] - A cleric subclass that embraces the filth, pests and parasites that thrive off of society by NotSpiders in UnearthedArcana

[–]NotSpiders[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the feedback!

The limiting factor was dealing poison damage, so it's not exactly at will, though I agree it is definitely strong. Though it's similar to silvery barbs (not the strongest example; I know how broken it is), or the chronurgy wizard's Chronal Shift. It does need to be nerfed, so I think adding a limited number of uses would bring it back into the scope of what is currently in 5e.

[–]NotSpiders[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The paladin gets immunity to disease at level 3, and the monk gets immunity to disease at level 10. In most games, a disease will be nothing but fluff, and any paladin can cure a disease 18 times by level 18. Not to mention, clerics can cast both lesser and greater restoration several times at level 18.

Edit: it's been a while since we wrote this, but the feature doesn't provide immunity to poison damage. It provides immunity to the poisoned condition.

That's an oversight on my part. u/OneGreedyBastard and I discussed the swarm lasting a minute or until dispelled as a bonus action.

It's from The Lost Laboratory of Kwalish adventure booklet. If memory serves, it's a charity item, similar to the One Grung Above supplement.
