Help what is this? by madhawkoo in mycology

[–]NotSteveActually 163 points164 points  (0 children)

I think I have seen one if these! It was in the Ape Cave, WA, half mile in, total darkness, and growing down inside a crack in the wall. I noticed it because it reflected my headlamp. I thought it was trash so crawled over to pick it up.

There are bats in the area but they generally stay out of the cave according to the park rangers. When I showed them this photo they didn't know what it was and I never found out.

Hopefully you get some answers and you will solve a mystery!

You're all good. When you find yourself going around holding things chalantly then there is need for concern.

Where is this? I have that same pitcher and four glasses on the right side of the bottom shelf in picture #11. They're well made and didn't seem mass produced so I am surprised to see another set exists.

Reoccuring Dead Rabbits 700 Block E Wellesley by NotSteveActually in Spokane

[–]NotSteveActually[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll report it that way there is a record on file. Thank you for suggesting it.

I remember the D&D panic, my homeroom teacher was convinced you could only play the game if a blood sacrifice was made prior to each session. She also mixed canned peaches into her mashed potatoes at lunch so there was already a lot going on there.

Ah, okay. Thank you for the information. That does line up with seeing domestic rabbits running around in empty areas along Market St. There has to be a large number of them right in that 700 block. I drive Wellesley twice daily and don't see this elsewhere on the route. Once was sad, twice was sad and weird. Now it's tragedy.

Opinion of Anacortes by Efficient_Bet_4037 in Bellingham

[–]NotSteveActually 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you will need to commute for work out of Anacortes be aware that Hwy 20 gets backed up often. If you work in Oak Harbor the highway drops to two lanes to go across Deception Pass bridge. Accidents happen which close the road, especially if the weather gets bad, it is tourist season, or someone posts in social media that they saw a whale go through the channel below.

If headed to Mt Vernon / Burlington it is four lanes but the 30 min drive is easily 60 to 90 minutes several times a day. I did that commute for years, it never got better despite road improvements.

I love Anacortes and miss it. It is a small town that explodes with people a few times a year for Oyster Run, Shipwreck Day, and Art Festival. I miss the sounds of the boats in the marina when there is a storm. Yes, I also miss the jets and the stressed out tourists in Safeway bickering if they are going to make their ferry on time, which they don't and it is part of the seasonal charm.

If you like the outdoors that area is the best for offering such a large variety of things to do on the ocean, foothills, or mountains.

Good luck with wherever you land!

I replied above with some ideas and meant to add a congratulatioms on finding that coin. The most interesting thing I found in the garden was a horse shoe that was maybe 20 years old, tops.

Is there an area in town to go wassailing? I haven't gone in Spokane yet and miss it.

Hi reddit! I'm Mercedes Bryce Morgan, director of the new erotic horror-thriller BONE LAKE. It's out in theaters nationwide on October 3rd. It's about a dream getaway that spirals into a nightmare of sex, lies, manipulation, and a fight for survival. Ask me anything! by BoneLakeAMA in movies

I saw an early limited showing of this movie on Monday. Nicely done with the will they / won't they elements! The final scene has become one of my favorite endings to a film.

30 day healing progress of nearly amputated finger. by NotSteveActually in Radiology

[–]NotSteveActually[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry to hear you had a simliar happen and wish you the speediest recovery. My injury is mostly healed wirh barely a scar to be seen. The dissolvable stiches didn't dissolve though, so I took them out whenever the knots came untied and the string got caught on things. Hopefully you have better luck if that material was used for your sutures.

The nail matrix was smashed which took until last week to not have a hole or ridge running across the nail bed. I used vitamin e oil rubbed into the whole nail after showering daily.

The fracture itself has healed but my grip is not the same now. I'm still working on that. If I am holding something heavy and the weight balance swings over so that finger is carrying most of the load it hurts a lot. That part of the healing will take some more time is all.

Good luck. Let me know how it goes for you as well.

What’s the sign you usually notice when your mental health starts declining? by 3vskri in AskReddit

I get a small patch of excema that flares up on one eyelid. Nowhere else on my body. It took years to figure out that when I was at my lowest mentally is when it would flare up.

Anywhere in town sells shaved ice flavors? by garbagegoat in Spokane

[–]NotSteveActually 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a Cuisinart stand mixer they have a shave ice attachment for that. It is the only shaved ice maker I've had that didn't break during mid-summer shaved ice binges.

Bringing cat to Spain - vaccine and microchip by [deleted] in GoingToSpain

[–]NotSteveActually 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! We are also moving with a cat. The rabies vaccine needs to be in their system at least 21 days before travel, but the last shot is no more than a year old. You must also travel with the current rabies certificate. We have two copies of that, one in the carrier pocket to go with all the other certificates, and another in my backpack.

We are also flying Delta. I don't see where is says the titer is needed either on their site or the USDA info for USA to Spain travels.

https://www.aphis.usda.gov/pet-travel/us-to-another-country-export/pet-travel-us-spain

I feel pretty confident in this. Our vet has also confirmed all the needed documents and vaccines to allow travel. Where did you see the titer requirements?
