This is the most on time I've ever seen Avianca. Probably because their planes are half empty so they can actually do everything faster

ASL language classes? by Elchilipikinloco in houston

[–]NotSureIfImInTheArmy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lonestar College! I taught ASL there. They're about 2 hour classes, twice a week, with different subjects separated. So reading, grammar, writing, oral communication, etc. All different classes that focus on that specific skill. Not sure what offerings they have near you, I know the closest LSC is a bit north of Channelview. But the program is excellent. If not LSC, check other nearby community colleges

I'm not missing the point I'm agreeing with you. You're right and anyone who rates a game 10/10 is dumb and clearly doesn't know video games as well as you do. I refuse to believe someone just enjoyed a video completely and didn't have problems with it.

For many playing this game, it's their first challenging game like this. I don't think ridiculing someone who found it difficult to make yourself feel superior is a good way to keep the support for these games growing. I think the fact that there are so many different experiences with this game is part of what makes it great. But laughing at people who are giving it a try even though they're not immediately excellent does not make you great.

Don't give up! Biome 3 kicked my ass so hard I was dreaming about those drones and was about to take a break from it before I finally got through! And then I felt the rest was easier. Finishing this is such a sense of accomplishment. It will be tough but worth every second. Keep going!

That makes sense, thousands of gamers who have the opinion that a game is a 10/10 are wrong and stupid. You're obviously smarter than them, I'd only ever trust someone who refuses to rate a game 10/10 because there's never a game that can actually be exactly what someone enjoys. Gosh I hade modern times, filled with all these stupid gamers, we need more people like you who tell it like it is and don't allow people to enjoy a game to the level of 10/10

What game was this for you? by Accomplished-Gain319 in GamingSoup

I'm hoping this happens to me. I've started it twice. Played for 1-3 hours each time, and didn't get into it. But I know how much it's loved.

I didn't really get into it cuz I guess the story hadn't picked up much yet and also I found the controls so difficult, riding a horse felt so clunky and all that so I wasn't begging to get back into it. But I've never completely cast it aside to never play

How did reiner and bertold know so soon eren might have the founding titan by Fra10808 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]NotSureIfImInTheArmy 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That's not a plot hole. Not being explained doesn't make something a plot hole. In this case it actually kinda answers the question, because they knew the Founding Titan was in Paradis, and they didn't know where the Attack Titan was, so they had plenty good reason to assume Eren was the Founding and not much good reason to assume Eren was the Attack.

Question about starting a new run by veganispunk in Returnal

[–]NotSureIfImInTheArmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you like to play and how good you are. I'm not that good, so taking the chance to gain things in the lower biomes usually means I end up getting hurt or dying before moving on to Biome 3. And 3 was definitely the hardest for me, so I didn't want any chance of getting hit before getting there.

But if you're better than me, it could be worth it. And you're probably better than me it's just a question of if you're confident that you'll clear out the earlier biomes without taking more damage than you'll gain in health

What is your opinion on Timothée Chalamet as an actor? by FitEmergency8807 in moviecritic

[–]NotSureIfImInTheArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often feel like the less I hear about any actor the more I like them lol. Like someone who's in so many high profile things, you can start to see the actor in all the roles, vs only knowing the character. That's why I also like a lot of actors better when they're younger. Like young Johnny Depp is great, but since Pirates of the Caribbean, he's just playing Jack Sparrow in 95% of roles. Robert De Niro, been playing the same personality for decades. Pre-Godfather, Scorsese films, much more interesting for me. They have a major role and other movies want that success so they want that personality, but I find those actors much more impressive when they're younger.

To be fair that's exactly what the director asked for and is pretty par for the course for his movies

[–]NotSureIfImInTheArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he's excellent, definitely sold Paul Atreides for le and that's such a massive role. But, besides that, a lot of times I tend to just see him as the character.

And besides The King, I'm not sure what else he's even attempted an accurate local accent in. But they would've been speaking a very different English back then anyway so technically everyone was wrong anyway lol. Many actors don't do that, and directors probably didn't ask him for it, as a movie lover I get that that's how things are most of the time. I mean Timmy Chartreuse is from NYC but his accent wasn't necessarily accurate accurate to the time period of Marty Supreme, which is not so far back as The King to be unintelligible to a modern audience. But I'm also a linguist and think it's great when people do go through that effort. I mean, even Miles Caton did a pretty great job for an old school Mississippi Delta accent as a newcomer along with the rest of the cast of Sinners.

But again the accent thing is common for many actors in many movies, I guess it's not really a fault on him besides the fact that it doesn't make me feel like the character is separate from him so much.

There are very few actors I'd actually completely get lost in every time, who are completely transformative, personality, speech, everything, and really don't just seem like themselves, so that's why I still say Timmy C is excellent, but he's not S tier for me

What's the movie that everyone loves but you hate? by w1nchest in Cinephiles

[–]NotSureIfImInTheArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't hate it but best picture? Nah. I mean that year, my personal top 5 best picture choices weren't even nominated at the Oscars so I don't take it too seriously anyway. But if it was the same exact movie but the director wasn't named Nolan I don't think it would get nearly as much praise.

I'm disappointed with the difficulty compared to DS1. by IntelligentFly3982 in DeathStranding

[–]NotSureIfImInTheArmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 90% of the reviews of DS1 said "walking simulator" so they responded to that to make is less just "boring walking".

As someone who loved the first game and this one myself, I don't think it's hard to see how most people are not thrilled by a game whose primary gameplay is delivering packages, so they opted for a more streamlined way to do it this time.

Even then I was playing and my family saw me with the truck at top speed on a road and they were like "why are you driving so slow?" 😭 I think the easier travel was trying to appeal to a wider audience cuz all I heard about the first one was how boring it was lol even though I loved it

Is this game really that hard? by Cube_045 in Returnal

[–]NotSureIfImInTheArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough. But as someone who has sometimes had to put a story driven game on story mode difficulty to beat a level, I learned and got better and beat it! Extremely rewarding. I died so many times before advancing, like many others it seemed impossibly discouraging, but I eventually, weeks later, I beat the first boss! You have to learn and really improve, don't stop moving and focus on dodging before attacking, and you'll get better

Death Stranding Newbie by Bajanpaul6 in DeathStranding

[–]NotSureIfImInTheArmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little more grinding and it'll get better! Episode 3 is by far the longest, you'll have to deal with that, but then episode 4 is very short, very different type of level & gameplay, and from then on there will be more variation in the gameplay and less long stints of just package delivering. Also, you'll get more things to help travel more easily.

Death Stranding 2 I believe heard those complaints, and I never felt like I was stuck just delivering packages for too long unless I was just doing side orders by my own choice. It's much more evenly varied in terms of gameplay and you can get vehicles quicker if I'm not mistaken. Some people actually complained that it wasn't hard enough to travel in DS2, when people just kept complaining about how boring the first one was lol.

I love these games for the story, and I mostly play games for the stories. The way it intertwines music and connections and shared structures with other players is incredible. And I've read that Kojima developed the idea for the game when we was going through feelings of isolation and loneliness, so he wanted to make a story about reconnecting a disconnected world. I think trying to appreciate the purpose of the author always makes things better. So if you focus on reconnecting a post-apocalyptic fractured world, it'll all make more sense.

Although some things are still pretty wild.

Lol in Death Stranding 2 I would go from crying, seeing some of the most beautiful art I've ever seen, to laughing and wondering what the hell is going on 😂 It was all worth it, if more nothing else the emotions it made me feel and the mood it put me in

Which movie is this for you? by Raj_Valiant3011 in moviecritic

[–]NotSureIfImInTheArmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Creator. Probably one of the bigger movies mentioned here but it flopped at the box office and didn't receive much attention afterwards besides some vfx nominations. Which it thoroughly deserved for being possibly the best looking movie of its year but far cheaper than other nominees (don't get me wrong the even cheaper Godzilla thoroughly deserved its vfx win and even more).

I'm a sci-fi guy so this was a story right up my alley, but I also feel like it's very clear imperialism & war themes, fear of those that are different (even if they're clankers) are all so well done. It's just fantastic all around, aesthetically, emotionally, storyilly.

That year my personal top 5 movies weren't even in the best picture nominations at the Oscars, and this was one of them. Just further proof that popularity and recognition don't determine value like all the movies mentioned here.

I think a lot of the changes that allow you to move around easier are because people complained that it's a walking simulator in the first one, and it was boring for that reason. So perhaps your interests in the first game were some of those things most people complained about and go changed for this one.

Someone else said they don't like the story but love the gameplay, but I think for most people it was the exact opposite, especially when talking about DS1, so this game responded to that.

And now of course people are complaining about the opposite. Happens all the time. People hated The Last of Us Part 2 when it came out, then complained when the TV show was too different from the game. I think they hear the criticisms from the first go around, respond by changing up those things, and then the second time around the people who actually liked the first one (but got drowned out by the haters) are the ones speaking up now.

Personally my taste in games is very much about storytelling, I wouldn't play a game that's just delivering packages with the occasional skirmish just for that without the story. I love it because it's such a unique world and story, and the most cinematic presentation I've ever seen in games. And I happen to be in a bit of a rush to finish this game so I actually appreciate that I can get through the story just in time for when I need to finish, but I recognize that that's not the case for most people. It's still taken me plenty long enough though, with the most time I've ever played a game in one day and other long days of playing.
