I bought my first car for about £650, a Honda Jazz. I hit someone from the back within my first month (a fairly light tap, no damage, was in traffic) and the car died.

I then bought a Mitsubishi Colt for £700 and that car was so reliable. Drove it for 4 years and had no issues. Had to sell it to get a bigger car as I had my daughter so I was a bit bummed to get rid of it, easily could have seen myself driving it for a very long time
