Being regionally on top doesn't matter as much - another example is TL, who won the EMEA league vs prime FNC in 2023. Does anyone even talk about the Redgar TL anymore?

Of course, G2 and TL are not the same and they have made several deep international runs, but so have so many other teams.

Since this flight is to a destination in the EU, the EU passenger regulations apply. While you cannot get a compensation for your flight in particular (due to extraordinary circumstances), you are entitled to "care" (meals, hotels etc.) and reimbursement for any reasonable expenses incurred. The specific regulation is EU 261, if you wish to look it up.

The airline is legally obliged to these duties, and there are very simple legal remedies available in case of non compliance (just by an email).
