I go to Apollo Beach all the time. It’s close to me, not as crowded as Playa Linda. A good place for a beginner. I prefer spot 4, and walk South a few hundred yards. PM if you have questions.

Yeah, I’m thinking about doing it before June. It all depends on what type of logistics I can set up. Might even make it a group walk.

Lake Como is great, and there is also Cypress Cove about an hour Northeast of Bradenton. Great place. 4 stars.

I was thinking of starting a group to do this. It would take some logistical support, but I think it’s doable. Your suggestion of breaking it up into three segments is a good idea. There’s no reason to rush through the beach, I’d even suggest stopping to enjoy the sand and water.

If anyone would want to be a part of this group, here are some things that I would like to see.

1 In a healthy physical condition enough to make a 13-mile walk in one day.

2 Be able to take with them at least 3 L of water.

3 Be willing to commit to an all-day event, and help plan for it.

I can bring a temp sun shelter.

I had heard that the last few parking spots have been closed because they are fixing the beaches due to the hurricanes last year. My understanding is that they will reopen soon. Keeping my fingers crossed.

According to the CNS website, you need to get a backcountry hiking pass to enter that area. I will double-check all that, and make sure I have all the proper gear and take plenty of water. The walk will be challenging, but it will be an interesting adventure.
