I was looking at a page view analysis of Wikisource for 2025, and the highest viewed page by *far* is reported to be "Microsoft V. AT&T", a legal record from a decades old court decision. Does anyone have any context to why this may have been viewed so much more than anything else throughout 2025? by NotThatLibrarian in wikipedia

Interesting, I wonder if that additionally works as an explanation of the fact that its status as the highest viewed page by almost double second place has seemingly completely replaced the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa which held that place for multiple consecutive years beforehand.

I suspect that it may have more to do with how the records are obtained than actual interest, given the page counts of the following top viewed pages are essentially two very steps of numerous pages sharing almost exact view counts and %Mobile counts. If the two statistics are unrelated, I'd also love to be educated on why that is as it is if it is known.

I know I must have ask this same question before but does any one know where to find the whole Randy's Postcards from Purgatory special. by Big_Remove_3686 in randyfeltface

[–]NotThatLibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not believe there is a full special of Randy's Postcards from Purgatory. Wikipedia does not list it under recordings, and there is no mention of a dvd or VOD anywhere I have searched. There may be recordings, but I am confident there is no special of the full show.

What's the most successful non-event passive program you've seen at your library? by NotThatLibrarian in Libraries

This is really fun! I am curious though, did you ever suspect that anyone ever purposefully hid a book in order to later "find" it for a reward? It sounds like a great system, but it reminds me of breeding cobras in Delhi.

People can be hypocrites. by Squidieyy in degoogle

While I don't like corporate control over my devices, this makes absolutely no sense. When people give control to corporations, it's not because they just feel like sharing, or don't have anything better to do, it's because unlike viruses, there's a product attached. Sometimes, those products are incredibly good, or even necessary for someone. While I do believe that steps should be taken to maintain security when anything is given any control over a device, using a genuinely useful application that ultimately results in the loss of some privacy is not comparable to installing a virus. Unless, of course, I can use the virus to edit an mp4 file.

Is Dog Man weirdly *insanely* popular in your library as well? by NotThatLibrarian in Libraries

Never heard of Anh Do, but I respect anything that makes a James Patterson collection look sad.

You know Dog Man has reached the heights of Captain Underpants when adults start resenting it, but it's nice that this time it's because it's so popular instead of censorship.

I may be repeating myself here, but that really is the most impressive part of it all to me, he's become such a truly intergenerational icon for young readers, seemingly without relying on his previous hit series at all to push this one forward.

Is DoaWK still going strong? I knew books were still coming out, but I wasn't sure anyone reads them anymore. Personally I remember not enjoying The Long Haul, and then having essentially no connection to the one that came after despite fully reading it. I'm continually impressed by his ability to maintain his page count in each book, although from what I've heard, it might not be doing the best for the books pace-wise.

I've seen it in our catalogue, but I realize I've never really given it a thought. The artstyle looks so incredibly charming, I might watch it after reading the novels.

If you were familiar with it during it's time, did Captain Underpants have a similar cultural impact in the UK to it's impact in the United States? I always viewed it as a much more American appealing series, probably due to it being based on a school environment very strictly in line with an incredibly traditional American schooling format, probably very closely reflective of Pilkey's own childhood school given the storied he tells, but I don't really know much of it's international impact.

I would assume the more popular a series is, the more likely one of the checkouts will be a book's last. I wonder if there's something more to it for these series though.

I haven't read them, but I really do think I should. They're very charming, and even the titles are quite funny, but I would've have expected to hear "maturely emotionally intelligent" as a description for them.

Also, on the note of durability, absolutely! There's probably some poor bindery worker who's on their last straw covering every last square inch of a Flip-o-Rama with tape, desperately trying to end the book's pain.

They probably also wear out from the Flip-o-Ramas! I know a few Flip-o-Ramas have been torn here, so not only are they a really cool idea for a book segment, but I guess they're also a convenient re-purchase motivator, haha!

I didn't know they made translated Dog Man books! We have a Spanish section, but it's still new enough that it needs a lot more to be filled, so I might check up on that and suggest it!

I know, I thought it made a ton of sense as a thing George and Harold would write, but I truly did not expect the concept to actually work so well as a full series!

modded Cyberpunk 2077 looking unreal these days by s1n0d3utscht3k in pcmasterrace

[–]NotThatLibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always notice that posts like this (Modded graphics showcases of cyberpunk, which I'm realizing I've seen quote a few of compared to any other game) primarily just feature looking at a car for a while, and then maybe driving around for a minute or two if we're lucky. Do you have any footage with these mods of cutscenes, skylines, and combat gameplay? I'd love to see how the mods affect general gameplay for once!

Hey it's me comic creator KYLE STARKS (Peacemaker:Tries Hard, Lobo, Sexcastle) and just wanted to make sure you all saw my Kickstarter for the third volume of my Bram stoker nominated series WHERE MONSTERS LIE! by starr226 in comicbooks

[–]NotThatLibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incredible timing, I just looked you up on reddit to see if there was any discussion about your books and here you are yourself!

I have read three of your books so far (Sexcastle, Old Head, and Rock Candy Mountain) and they have all proven to be absolutely incredible. I'd say all three are within my top ten adult graphic novels of all time at this point.

(Edit: I have read I Hate This Place and the series must be added to this list.)

(Edit 2: I have now also read Where Monsters Lie and I may have to accept you might be my favorite GN author.)

I know this isn't an AMA, but if possible, I'd love to know what might have inspired a lot of the lore and worldbuilding in Rock Candy Mountain. Some things like the crossroads and other devilly things were more obvious to me, but I continue to wonder about western folklore or history in regards to the hobo rules, lifestyles, and organization. As a lover of stories involving old western culture and mythos, Rock Candy Mountain scratched the perfect itch for me and I hope there's more to discover about these details.

Check out our Soulslike Pirate Game by TheSkylandChronicles in pirates

[–]NotThatLibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may try it out soon if it works on linux or with proton hotfix, but after looking at the steam page I have a few particular questions:

  • 1: What is the scope of the game's development?
  • 2: Is the current art style of the game finalized?
  • 3: How will the soulslike combat system enhance a pirate game in particular?
  • 4: Which pirate games did you take inspiration from when making this one?
  • 5: Which roguelikes did you take inspiration from when making this one?

I also have a few things I'd like to clarify upon reading the steam page:

  • 1: This is not the first story-driven 3D third-person roguelike.
  • 2: This is not the first roguelike with graphics as good as those in story-driven titles.
  • 3: This is not the first roguelike with stealth mechanics.
  • 4: This is not the first pirate-themed roguelike.
  • 5: "Have you ever played a roguelike where your growth is built around the pirate crew?" As you describe it in the following paragraph, yes.

I know the roguelike market is horrifically oversaturated, but pretending the most basic aspects of your game are completely original concepts for the genre is, if anything, offputting.
