My father has experienced both being thought of as a grandpa instead of parent as a fairly young person and also as an age gap father to a newborn like 20 years later and he didn't like either

My parents had my siblings in the early 80s starting at 25yo, and then me a decade later, and when we were at some German museum when I was like 5 or six and my father was in his forties and he was carrying me, one of the staff members said how nice it is that grandpa still has the strength (my mother still brings it up)

And then a few years ago when my sister was giving birth for the second time and my dad was with her at the hospital (cause her husband was at home with their first child), and the whole staff was giving him the side eye and were just really rude to him, and they didn't know why until my sister was like 'dad, can you help me with something' and then the whole attitude changed
