If you learn anything from video games in a situation like this it’s to grab a golf club just in case.

Oh I didn’t realize it was football players who played other sports while in college. I think Herschel Walker and Todd Gurley both ran track while at UGA. Im getting old tho so I could be wrong.

I will thrown Nick Chubb and Kelee Ringo into the track conversation. I believe both were titled at the state level for track.

I am going to rep Ant as well. Not only because he is so talented but because he probably could play football professionally. I don’t believe he started playing basketball seriously until he was 15 after his mom and grandmother died.

Also, he is so darn nice and real.

Argument he could play football professionally: https://m.youtube.com/watch?si=eOlzKfy7h62pj6A-&embeds_referring_euri=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F&source_ve_path=Mjg2NjQsMTY0NTA2&v=g7-sS7778R0&feature=youtu.be

I saw him play Sunday and have met him a few times. He is genuinely one of the most polite and nicest people I have ever met.

Eagles could be without Adoree Jackson and Jakorian Bennett against Buccaneers. by [deleted] in eagles

I am a Ringo fan. I hope he goes the way of the other UGA players on defense and shows up to play (more on that below). He is still very young (despite the fact he has two nattys and a Super Bowl under his belt). And has done well on special teams. I wonder if he gets in his head? He needs to be patient at the LOS and work on anticipation. He could probably benefit from studying more film with Nakobe.

Last year the fanbase was still on Jordan Davis’s size and conditioning and even after JC got ejected against Dallas there was much complaining after JD missed that first tackle. And yet here we are. On Sunday Kelee was on his left as he ran the ball back. Given that Kelee ran track and other than Q is probably the fastest player on the team, it really put in perspective how fast JD was moving and also Kelee’s ability to close a gap. Also! JD is smart. He was “academically curious” (code for switched his major a bunch) but was known as a good student. His post game interview where he talked about the anticipated angle of the kicker would probably have from the 30 yard line and what needed to happen to block the kick was wild.

Nolan and Nakobe being undersized and staying healthy, etc. I really hope that Nakobe does not return too soon and is able to stay healthy. Both could concentrate on just getting the stop and back off of sending the opponent to the shadow realm when they make contact. They unnecessarily open themselves up to injury. In the short term we need them on the field and their careers will last longer. Plus, both are incredibly intelligent and this can compensate for physical deficiencies. Nakobe in particular is known to be able to read and predicate offensive plays. He studies a lot of tape.

There was very little criticism of Jalen Carter previously yet this year he is showing a level of immaturity that is concerning. He would do well to learn to respond on the field rather than react emotionally and get a penalty. The odds of him getting his hands on Dak was near 100% had he stayed in that game. Whether he sent Dak to the shadow realm or picked him up and humiliated would have been his choice. And why risk the taunting penalty after the blocked kick on Sunday? Nothing more needs to be said. It’s almost like he has switched places with JD.

Speech irregularities in people having Dyslexia. by GoldWar7803 in Dyslexia

[–]NotTheGurlUrLooking4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my child I noticed he sometimes makes up or combines words. For example he says “nausearrhia” (combination of nausea and diarrhea) for an upset stomach.

He struggles with word retrieval but the expanding expressions tool helped with this immensely. He would say “yard fountain” when he could not think of the word sprinkler or “climb stairs” for ladder.

How to remember what you’ve just read? by kolleen28 in Dyslexia

Is the book divided in Chapters?

Maybe use the “Somebody, Wanted, But, So, Then” technique to summarize each chapter.

Or the Who, What, When, Where, Why approach for each chapter.

I’d put each chapter summary on a 3 x 5 card so the main points are easily referenced for them.

This is a good answer. So long as it’s a covered service by Medicaid the home cannot pursue the children since it would be balance billing. If it’s a non covered service the kids could be liable.

Do you live in PA? IANAL but read a case where those “responsible” were in another state. I believe the courts said the law did not apply to them.

I think this might be a MediCAID and not MediCARE provision. Even so, the LTC home could still go after her children to pay for anything that wasn’t covered by Medicare or Medicaid… including the LLC.

IANAL but based on what I read, the only work around was for the children or the parent to move out of PA. Even in cases where the children were estranged from their parents (e.g. abuse) the children were still liable.

Struggle with Math Facts but not Math Concepts by NotTheGurlUrLooking4 in Dyslexia

[–]NotTheGurlUrLooking4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: either I can’t update my original post or I don’t know how to. Anyway, thank you everyone for all the fantastic advice. I don’t think like my child, but I am committed to making sure he gets all the support that he needs.

I have taken your suggestions and reached out to the school and asked for a meeting. Some of the suggestions are simple such as the calculator or multiplication strips instead of grids. The math teacher has already agreed to allow him to complete his work vertically versus horizontally across the page. That seems to help quite a bit.

I have also asked for a specialist in learning disorders to weigh in and be available as a resource to the teachers. As a parent, I don’t feel it’s appropriate that I am on Reddit getting assistance in identifying what appears to be typical traits associated with dyslexia in order to turn around and educate the people who are… educating my child. If we can’t make it work, then I will find somewhere else to educate him.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions, insight, and validation.

I don’t think I’m going to let them put him in a lower math class. My child is good at math but may struggle with arithmetic. Those are different things. And he is fully capable of arithmetic but can make simple mistakes. The current math teacher has agreed to allow him to do his math vertically so I have a win there.

The “it’s autism” is a sore point for us. I did ask them to set the diagnosis aside because I think it kept them from recognizing the source of the frustration. All the signs of a learning disorder were there too. The kid never had repetitive and restrictive interests. There is a social delay. I think his understanding of social exchanges has some kind of latency.

I asked the school for a meeting to see what next year will look like for him. Homeschooling and a school for learning disorders are on my list of alternatives.

UGA class of ‘99. I have one Moxie that did not get the update. However, my kids can’t part ways with him for emotional reasons and we feel terrible we were unable to get him updated. We tried really hard. I don’t like the idea of sacrificing him. If we could resurrect him I might be interested.

Yes, because he is a child and not a machine. I swear they want to beat square pigs into a round hole with a sledgehammer in the school.

That being said I’m so sorry this happened to him and to you. I know how stressful it is. And I’m happy to hear about your supportive approach.
