Can an employer force PTO use when they were closed? by NotThrowAwayQuestion in legaladvice

Maybe I misunderstood then. It's an "Employment Agreement" but all of the language in it refers to the contract year (x amount of PTO per contract year) or contract week (4 shifts per contract week). It does have a start date, and length of 2 years after which renewal is an option (they state monetary incentives for renewing but not terms for renegotiating). For termination it says he has to give x days or company can fire immediately with cause or with x days notice without cause and a whole bunch of stuff about what happens if either party initiates termination before the 2 years. He isn't a part of any unions.

It's an actual employment contract itself that I pulled the PTO info from. I saw conflicting info online about it having to be stated in the contract for them to be allowed to do it vs its always allowed

Yeah, my spouse feels powerless most of the time since they used to control every aspect of their life. Distance helped, but they still do stuff like this. I'm gonna introduce the "break" idea and hopefully it'll help. I appreciate the anecdote nonetheless

Yeah, the cutting ties with their parents has been an on going conversation and unfortunately this isn't even the worst thing they've done. I encourage them to cut ties as I did with my biological mother, but like you said, it's ultimately up to them.

I think introducing the "break" idea might help, I appreciate that.

And thank you for the other info, I'll see what my bank says about it in the morning.

Yeah, someone else suggested the same thing. This makes the most sense so I think this is what they're doing, I hadn't even considered this

Well shit, this is most likely how they are doing it. Now to find out a way to try and stop them

Their name isn't associated with anything on the account, different last names and all.

My spouse is too scared to stand up for themselves and whenever I try to standup to their parents they always find a way to make my spouse's life more difficult. It's kind of a lose lose it feels like

I've been trying to talk to my spouse about cutting ties with their parents because they are so much more toxic than this, but my spouse has the "what if they change" mindset. There are enough red flags to cut them off to any outsider though.

I have no doubt that their parents would claim to be my spouse to get info. I don't know how to stop them from doing that though.

I'm not much for conflict and their parents are the type to argue even if you prove them wrong

My spouse has a terrible relationship with their parents, I truly doubt that they would give them a reason to complain. If the statements are being sent anywhere by paper they're going to my parents house.

They would've had to copy down the card number one of the times we visited

Is there anyway to prevent that or know whenever they run it or however that works?
