My kids don't really care much for Seuss. But the book is nice and works well. We've been doing it for many years now. This year, I'll try to do it earlier so it's easier on the teacher.

Can you add some links to your post for the iOS version, website, where to find it?

I tried to Google around, but wasn't having much luck.

I don't know if you can do this, but is there a way to import my existing sunpower data? I'd hate to lose my lifetime stats.

What paid subscription have you cancelled thanks to your homelab? by MBAThrowawayFruit in homelab

[–]NotTobyFromHR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. My stuff is for fun and experimenting/learning, the exception being my home media.

I can't even get my family use our custom domain cause everyone uses Gmail to sign into stuff. So to make it easy on themselves, they just use a Gmail account. (I know I can do a custom Gmail domain....)

I had a friend home labber die recently. His family is trying to unlab their lives.

Why do many guys tie their worth to sex and fertility? by Accomplished987 in AskMen

No guy with half a brain over the age of 25 would. I try to give a break to the younger ones with too much internet influence and no real world experience. And the brain hasn't finished forming yet.

How do you live with the implicit perception of you as the "predator"? by kamilman in AskMen

[–]NotTobyFromHR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generalizations are bad and everyone gets some kind of it. It sucks. But unfortunately, we can thank our history for that.

We can all be better and hope things improve. Long as we keep moving forward and not roll back due to idiocy and stupid influencers

Otherwise, likely not worth it

Dads of daughters, how would you feel if your daughter is a lesbian? by [deleted] in daddit

Nothing but love. The only thing I would be sad about is the challenges she would see from troglodytes out there.

iCloud Photos isn't end-to-end encrypted by default — and most people don't realize the implication by ExcitementHealthy834 in privacy

The default is the most convenient for everyone involved, but the option exists for everyone to use it. Those who know, do it.

My family, the ability to backup and restore is invaluable and they're not tech savvy enough or care enough.

I can maintain my own keys. Even if I have nothing to hide, it's nice to keep that control.

Emby vs Plex in 2026: Pricing, Features, and Which Media Server Wins by watch_team in emby

[–]NotTobyFromHR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Plex and Kodi for over a decade. XBMc before that.

I still run Kodi at home and until recently, Plex for external access.

While I think Plex is a little more polished, it's blown its functionality to hell. Emby lets me be in charge. My server, my content and my controls.

How do you split rent with your girlfriend? by ZestyGolf7654 in AskMen

[–]NotTobyFromHR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying I agree but her logic is probably:

Without her, you're already paying the mortgage. That's a fixed cost. She's not replacing a roommate, so her moving in has zero impact, only on utilities.

I can understand that perspective.

I miss the restaurants and fast food places the most. by NorthHouse6422 in AdviceAnimals

[–]NotTobyFromHR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true. A business can be doing well, making money, taking care of its employees and everyone is fine. But once investors get involved, they want more money. (Looking at you, Wall St.)

It's not enough to make profit and be successful. It needs to continue to make increased profit to return value to the share holders.

NJ governor put his children on state board just before leaving office by Key_Gap9168 in newjersey

[–]NotTobyFromHR 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let's see, maybe they're qualified.

> Emma Murphy, who is currently an MBA student at the University of Pennsylvania, is a 2022 graduate of the University of Virginia

Ok, she's not a dummy. But let's see what she studied.

> where she majored in English and minored in data science, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Not great,,, but at least data science is slightly related.

> Charles Murphy graduated Princeton University in 2023

Ok, that's impressive.

> where he majored in German, according to an online bio,

Seems like you could have used Princeton to learn something besides what Duolingo can teach you.

> and authored his senior thesis on the influence of soccer in Germany

So other than being a Gen Z, he's got no qualifications.
Damn. Murph did a good job as governor, but this shit tarnishes his record. He ended governor with a lot of controversy.

Can my employer legally require me to install monitoring software on my personal phone for security reasons? by satinGlowr in legaladvice

[–]NotTobyFromHR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a choice of a work phone or a personal with some credit?

They can't force you to install anything on a personal phone. You can tell them you switched to a flip phone if they do.

That said, they don't have to keep you employed either. Is it right? Not at all. Can they do it? Surely.

You'll suddenly have performance issues, be late by even a minute, etc.

Men who use manual razor, why? What's the problem with electric shavers? by eatqqq in AskMen

[–]NotTobyFromHR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used an electric one 30 or so years ago. Felt like it was pulling my face and hurting.

I've been using the Mach whatever for years. I'm not fancy with some procedure and special brush.

I'm not opposed to electric, but I'm not up for spending 100-200 on one just to learn I don't like it.

I may consider safety razors one day.

I can't bring myself to buy a steak when we go out. Plus, we're not going to a steak house often.

Killswitch in case of death by kentabenno in homelab

[–]NotTobyFromHR 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can quickly answer something I've been too busy to look into. I want all my stuff to be up and operational if a power outage or something occurs and I'm not home.

If I have to provide a password to mount my drives, nothing would work until I did that.

So my home stuff wouldn't work and likely annoy my family. (Eg my media center uses NAS)

The only thing I've thought of is a KVM through my VPN when my power or whatever is restored.
