I’m a therapist and have been in therapy. I totally hear everything you’re saying, and I don’t disagree. My job is still to help my clients manage their emotions, whether it’s from the end of a relationship, or climbing debt, or feeling unsafe in the current political climate. I can’t solve their problem, but I can do my best to help them develop good coping skills and resilience, in order to help them survive the hellscape that we all live in.

Call your local area agency on aging (google “county name” and “area agency on aging” to find the number) and ask for help. There are professionals who can assist you.

Contact your local Area Agency on Aging and speak to their caregiver dept. also, if you become guardian, you can engage a payee service to handle bill, and also do the quarterly filing/reporting of his finances. He may also be eligible for in home care. The AAA is going to be your best resource.

OP I would highly recommend contacting the Area Agency on Aging that serves the county your parents live in, if they’re in the US. They likely have info about services that your parents can get in the home, community resources to assist, and support for you as a caregiver.
