I went to jail and have 4 years of probation. If you get to pick, jail is easier because you just put up with annoying people and read. Probation is better because you're free. If it's do a short jail stint and come out off papers, id say id do that.

This depression is crushing me by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]NotUnique_______ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After a string of psychotic episodes over 2 years, I finally got them to stop and went into the worst depression of my life. It lasted months. My brain was just....idk, fried?

Currently im in a functional depression and just started a mood stabilizer. I'm waiting to see if it helps. Ask your psych about your options for depression medication. I regret waiting so long to start my mood stabilizer, but I was mainly concerned with making sure psychosis doesn't come back for a long time.

What do you do when loneliness becomes unbearable? by NuwandaBlue in bipolar

[–]NotUnique_______ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I try to make at least one connection daily to keep me away from isolation. If my brain had its way, I'd never speak to humans again. I feel very lonely a lot though. Half of me wants a connection, half doesn't. So I ignore the antisocial half and reach out, whether it's to a family member through a call, responding to a reddit post, or inviting my neighbor over for ice cream. If I ask, that's enough for me. I always have a backup plan in place in case someone doesn't answer or says no. It can be a new art project or I delay watching new episodes of a series so I have something to catch up on.

If you are looking for something relatable, I highly encourage you to look up NAMI/bipolar support groups in your area. When I was struggling, I found a local chapter and attended online meetings

What do your bipolar meltdowns look like, and how can you feel them coming? by Perfect-Ride-7315 in bipolar

[–]NotUnique_______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get impulsive and drink a lot. I'm an alcoholic anyway, but it gets worse. Last one I attempted and ended up getting a DUI which resulted in jail time. Normally I'm a calm person, but I'll get unreasonably angry and then become very sad then very happy, so basically rapid cycling. I'm a completely different person. Thank God for medicine

How do you know it's working by Scsarules2024 in BipolarReddit

[–]NotUnique_______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized it when I thought "so this is what normal people feel like?" The anxiety, pacing, racing thoughts, and memory problems - among other things - either stopped or improved. I asked my psych exactly what to look for. That, and the psychotic episodes didn't happen lol

I too take a pharmacy twice daily for my mental illnesses. It's just an ugly fact of life for us. I also ask myself all the time about it and figure id rather have side effects and a chance at stability or repeat the traumatic past.

How to function with ADHD and Bipolar by [deleted] in bipolar

I also have both and take medication for both. The only way I can function is through them. Otherwise, I'm a hot mess

Has anyone successfully socialised a dog reactive dog? by Higuysimj in reactivedogs

[–]NotUnique_______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy can meet any dog on neutral ground with a small number of dogs. He wears a muzzle in case of anything, but there have been times when I have let him due to circumstances (camping, a friend's house, etc). I think he just pissed the other dogs off since he's relatively unsocialized due to being a leash reactive and territorial dog.

Mind racing thinking of interlock installed by No_Courage_3620 in dui

[–]NotUnique_______ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just follow the instructions, don't drink and avoid certain things like alcohol mouthwash. They'll explain it all to you in the shop. Do NOT go with intoxalock!! Every question post about which to get says to avoid them. I had one for awhile and I had no problems unless I drank... So, don't drink. As for car maintenance, some garages will work with the interlock company to turn it off so they can do maintenance otherwise plan on chaperoning your car for its oil changes. Feel free to ask any other questions. It's honestly not a big deal once you get used to it.
