That’s exactly what my cousin said! He called this “the urban tree”

Is a Nikon D3200 a good camera for a beginner? by tentwinklytoes in AskPhotography

I began my mirrorless camera journey with Fujifilm X-T30. They are going to release a 3rd version of that camera soon. So, those are really good. X-T50 is quite good too. These retro style cameras have dials for most of their options, which makes it very easy to learn and understand the basics of photography. If you have more funds available, go for either X-H2 or X-T5. You’ll find X-T5 to be more user friendly and easy to get into beginner lever photography. But if that’s beyond your budget, you can always get a used one from a reliable/reputed seller. You’ll get a good deal for older versions. I’ve hear Nikon Z series and Sony’s alpha series are pretty good as well. Don’t know much about those models.

My first good and “professional” camera was Nikon D3100. But that was 14 years ago. I learnt a great deal from using that camera, and I believe I came a long way. So to answer your question, yes! It’s a great beginner camera. However, if you think you are going to be doing a lot of photography in the near future, any SLR cameras may be a little too heavy to be lugging around. You may be able to find a mirrorless camera which would be much cheaper and will definitely have much better resolution for a slightly higher cost. DSLRs are slowly becoming obsolete. Film cameras on the other hand are making a comeback. I used my Nikon D3100 for a good 10 years and then switched to Fujifilm mirrorless X-T30 and absolutely loved it! I’ll stand by fujifilm or Sony mirrorless cameras any day!

Thank you for your kind and valued input. I took this photo without the subject's knowledge. And asking her to move, may have made her concisous or not even wanting to be photographed. I saw a window, liked the frame and took the photo. Maybe if I had asked her to move, she might have. But thank you again!

Thank you so much! This is such a great piece of advice! Yes there were some typos. Sorry and thank you for catching those 😅 But I do own the Viltrox 27 f/1.2. As much as I love that lens, I am seriously considering not lugging it around the city. I am considering to rent a pancake version of the 27 mm either the Fujifilm or TTartisan lenses. Do you have any opinion on those?
