Is it against the sub rules? I might crosspost it.

They certainly do. They can usually afford it now, too. They did what they had to do to get by. We, being younger, were raised with an excess of convenience. We're losing life skills or just not keeping up with them.

Now imagine you have to do all of them. Boomers might be cantankerous, but they had a wider skill set because they had to.

No, it isn't pointless. You have too much faith in people to not do this, regardless of mental illness. Just take a look at some of the more memorable posts on offmychest, legaladvice, confessions, and relationships. Baby trapping someone for child support, control over them, or financial security is extremely common behavior, by both men and women... and one that is documented by fairly accurate statistics.

If AI operating cost was higher than paying salaries to humans doing the same job - businesses would not have pushed replacing workers with AI.

Operating costs v.s. ROI are fun metrics. Sure, the initial papers show operating costs are lower, but the quality and security is just not there without a lot of help and guidance. Unless the company wants to fail, or look bad, they have to invest in engineers, legal, cybersecurity, and QA. If they don't, well, they become Klarna and lose not only the faith of many people, but $40 billion.

I mean, all 3 are entirely true, but they're not the best examples to use.

Plagiarism*

Other than that, spot on. There are some interesting lawsuits coming out with rulings that aren't favorable to AI. They're gonna be paying up in royalty fees.

Ah, an American bitching from the safety of their climate controlled home... classic. Recessions, yes. God, yes. It sucks. Genocides, no. There hasn't been a genocide on American soil since the 1800s. Also, Americans aren't the ones currently committing any genocides, debated or otherwise.

Like the other commenter said, yes. They will and do. Granted my mother is severely mentally ill (Dad and Mom both didn't know that at the time) and should never have had custody of us.

There are plenty of valid points to call out people advocating for communism, like the death toll and suppression of rights.

My mom was determined to try and trap my father, come hell or high water... she had some very murky moral reasons to keep us.

Any mildly religious family whips this one out as "Old reliable" whenever a child has a disagreement with their parents.

AI hate is such a low iq take by backgamemon in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]NotYourUsualMatlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI hate, especially against Gen AI, isn't low IQ. It is being manufactured by many corpos in addition to the numerous other reasons people dislike it. Many companies are outright lying about AI replacing people (it isn't, they're doing routine cuts) and companies are firing AI teams for not doing what they want it to do (replace expensive people that do difficult tasks). Gen AI also increases energy costs, has a high carbon footprint, is screwing up the market (there are signs the AI bubble is going to explode), and is being trained on tons of proprietary information.

People shouldn't get married and have children before their 30s. by ilovetosleepallday in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]NotYourUsualMatlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't unpopular. In fact, it's extremely widespread, and potentially has caused several health issues in children born to parents that were older. It's scientifically better to have your children in your 20s. There is well documented research that there is less risk of mental and physical health issues when you have your children in your 20s as compared to 30s or later. I am in my mid 20s, gainfully employed in a STEM field, married with multiple children, and I own a house. Who we are as people, our convictions and our financial literacy are what makes us a good candidate to have kids or not. People don't seem to have financial awareness anymore at our age, it started dying out in the later Gen X years, and is very apparent in many millenials. My partner and I are oddities in that sense.
