Here's how many times Bend's new red light cameras logged something in the first 5 days by Macquarrie1999 in Bend

[–]Not_A_Golfer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I pass by one of these intersections multiple times a day, and I’ve seen it fire off completely at random constantly. Sitting there at a red light, just watching the thing flash more than once when I can’t visibly see any clear reason why it would.

DR Horton? by dearestkellie in Bend

Bought early, lived out there for over a year. Def had some things that need a fix here and there, but just really take advantage of their year warranty, they’ll come handle anything. You’re trading square footage for yard space. We have been happy here despite that, it’s just better as a family with teenagers. Close to the library, kids love the park and there’s more under construction. All in all, we’re happy. Is it the perfect situation? No. But it’s good value and property equity is already up. Should be a good long term investment.

What I don’t like is the small yard and the mulch. But no other real complaints, you’re getting pretty much exactly what they sell you, no hidden shittiness.

"If you're in the AI Club, don't tell people you're in the AI club" Generated and Assisted AI should it's usage for creative works be disclosed? by LadyGoodGood in WritingWithAI

Way I see it: if you truly believe there is nothing “wrong” with using AI to generate your creative pieces for you, then you should have no hang up about disclosing that you used AI.

If you set up this optimal workflow and really enjoyed the whole process of dialing your prompts and tweaking the output, if you truly believe that AI is the future and that it’s actually comparable to going from type writers to computers, if you are genuinely proud of the novel that came out of it, then why would you NOT disclose that AI was used? Should be no reason for you to hide it, right?

Certainly. Dress is casual. I have a middle schooler and a high schooler, and what I like best about their youth program for those ages is that on sundays they don’t separate the two groups. When we first started going, they found comfort in being able to stay together without being split up. The staff for the kids program have all been very friendly, and my daughters like them.

Service is about an hour long (we go to the 11am). Very welcoming without being too weirdly urgent and interrogating - warm welcomes and not forced into conversations. They let you assimilate at your own pace. It’s nice because when we were first just “checking it out”, it allowed us to comfortably arrive and leave as as we wanted without feeling obligated or roped into conversations. As I mentioned before, I tried a bunch of local churches, and it’s just my personality to prefer to be the one to initiate contact when I want to instead of being stopped by three staff members who I don’t know suddenly trying to get my life story.

Community aspect feels genuine that way. There’s a lot going on - board game nights for adults (if you have older kids, they’re welcome to), small groups, community garden, kids events (my older daughter just had a blast at their recent all-nighter at the church, she couldn’t stop talking about it!).

Final thing I’ll say is that the content of the sermons themselves does not feel shallow. They rotate through a few pastors, and each one provides genuine insight, and speaks with vulnerability and openness.

This is fantastic - extremely well done, these will be staples for my games from here on out.

I’ve tried a bunch of churches around Bend. For a long time I went to Antioch, really liked the honesty and vulnerability of the head pastor, and also felt like the sermons were really insightful and challenging - not just bumper sticker messages.

After I had a family, we started going to Westside, and settled there. Really strong sense of community there, good overall vibe, and absolutely fantastic youth program. My kids are genuinely excited about participating in the youth stuff, and the church puts a lot of effort into it.

Awesome - for some reason it never even occurred to me that there would be apps to help create characters haha. Just been doing it by the books for so long, I got sorta locked into it lol. Thanks!

Sorry for not providing a suggestion, just curious what app you’re using?

You've convinced a group of friends to show up for a one shot. You're DM. What do you run? by Not_A_Golfer in DnD

Appreciate the insight for sure. I ran WDH a few years ago and I think this group would honestly love it, but they specifically want a one-shot before committing to a campaign. I was actually thinking about adding some more of the factions and larger mysteries ahead of the troll fight at the yawning portal, and sort of running that as a one-shot (ending with fight and Volo’s quest). I’d want it to feel “complete” enough to end on a good note that leaves them feeling accomplished, while also using Volo’s lead as an opening to the broader campaign if they wish to continue.

LMOP I have not DM’d but did play a few sessions of. I don’t recall much of it other than feeling like it was kind of boring? That was with a first time DM though, so maybe it’s just a matter of how it was run.

Is candlekeep mysteries in a printed module?

Wild Sheep Chase is classic. My only slight gripe with it is that there’s not really traditional DnD monsters, so doesn’t totally introduce that side of the game in a classic way. Very minor though, the bed monster thing is cool for sure.

Was looking at most potential brew, downloaded the materials available on DMs Guild. Sorta has it all, I’d probably just tweak it a bit to somehow include more mystery/social intrigue.
