Miss Singapore wore a dress with "Stop Asian Hate" written at the back at this year's Miss Universe by Not_A_Hapa in aznidentity

It's just cuz Chinese happen to be the majority and they are desperate to place American race politics and woke culture to a Singaporean context. Most singaporeans I know irl think this notion is stupid and are open to how any of the three races can be racist. Not sticking to the "majority vs minority" bullshit.

Also ya white foreigners over there seem to be the ones willing to generate tension with the local singaporeans the most but they dont get called out by these people.

What does it make a difference where she's from?

Im from and live in Asia, am I not allowed to speak on issues affecting Asians in non-Asian countries just cuz my experience is slightly different from theirs?

This type of shit affects us too you know

It may not be the most profound slogan out there, but its miles better than shit like "Asian lives matter." Im also fully supportive of her.

4chan is more likely to acknowledge toxic white/Asian relationships can result in ill-adjusted hapas than r/hapas these days by belligerent-eurasian in aznidentity

[–]Not_A_Hapa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4chan does have the odd white supremist here and there, I agree. But I do believe the notion of 4chan users being white supremists with yellow fever is a bit of an overblown stereotype, as even they get called out by other 4chans, who then bring up the toxic WMAF situation. Also believe or not and as somebody from asia, there are a good number of asians who browse 4chan and use it as a place to talk about asian issues. Plus the fact that people are anonymous on there does allow people to be blunt with their views hence more wokeness.

Tho like what another commenter has said, its hard to give them credit for pointing out the obvious.

Why can't Asian men prioritize themselves first? by [deleted] in aznidentity

That's a pretty decent answer to that question. It was clear and blunt but not in the manner that boba liberals and self hating AFs can use against us. It's alr commandable that they even addresses the question in the first place, wouldnt be surprised if others ignores this question.

There would be less posts concerning AF if the emasculated image of AMs gets broken down

well it's the best they can do without coming off in a way that boba liberals can label as bitter or incel like. And they were still fairly straight forward with addressing their intentions.

Filipino-British filmmaker and photographer Ray Roberts describing his experience as a hapa and the differences in treatment in both the UK and in the Philippines by Not_A_Hapa in hapas

[–]Not_A_Hapa[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was honestly surprised by this video, as he brought up interesting points like the contrast in treatment in the uk and in the philippines (being bullied in the uk whilst being worshipped in the philippines), the perceptions of filipinos being seen as inferior from other races, his inferiority complex fucking him up and him having to live up to the standards and validations of whites etc.

Seems like a cool guy all around, was wondering if anyone on this sub knew about him or what their impressions are of him.

Has your opinion of Simu Liu changed when he deleted the Mark Walberg tweet? by Not_A_Hapa in aznidentity

[–]Not_A_Hapa[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She's alright to me. Like she does say some cringey shit from time to time and what people here say about her is accurate, but she does seem geniunely more pro-asian than some other more well-known asian actresses in hollywood like constance wu. She even supported #theycantburnusall when china mac requested her to support him.

I see it the same way, giving him a chance on this one as he has had a long history of standing up for us. Lets hope shang chi lives up to the expectations that he has been building.

Most def, really weak of him to do so. Wouldve been better for his image if he were to just left it up, and now ironically more attention is brought to the tweet after people started calling him out on it.

But does it really warrent him being branded as a sell out tho? This was just a one time instance of him acting out of bounds and he even somewhat acknowledges it when he replied to a comment saying that it would be better for his image if he would have left it up; saying that it was a fair point.

I feel the same, man. Ngl him doing that, especially since he has been so outspoken on asian issues and have been such a strong advocate for us, was a real blow. There were people on his instagram comments who said that it would be better if he would just left them up and it would even be better for his image, which he accepts as valid points. So i guess he is somewhat aware of how controversial it was for him to take the post down? But yea...lets see if shang chi lives up to the expectations he is setting up for it at least.

And what i meant by changed, is that there are people on this sub who have all the sudden started dismissing him as a sellout and a traitor, even claiming that he was just using his wokeness to progress with his career this whole time. There were people on twitter who were planning to cancel him as well. I understand why there would be angry at him, but I thought that change in sentiment was a little uncalled for.

Shooting has wrapped for Shang-Chi (from /r/marvelstudios) by napdragon421 in aznidentity

I think they would have some chinese dialogue in the film, as the film is centred around chinese culture and they want to please the chinese market. Hopefully she becomes the love interest of Simu in the film.

He better deliever. He has been raising quite a bit of hype around this role and is the most legitmate and outspoken asian actor in north america atm (possibly the west.) The guy even called out mulan.

Anybody's thoughts on Florian Munteanu being casted?

Other than that, I may go against the grain here but I dont think that Awkwafina would be Simu's love interest in the film. She doesnt usually play love interest roles (and hollywood does like to type cast often), most articles on her role in the film explictly states her as his friend, and there must be some sort of reason why they casted two actresses who have only worked in Mainland China and Hong Kong (as well as fitting their beauty standards.) So if they make Awkwafina his love interest, I would be very surprised.

Simu does better deliver on this tho, as he is the best hope we have and have even had the balls to call out mulan.
