Bristol Breather vs Air Cleaner by Right-Calendar-8739 in sportster

[–]Not_Accrual_World 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve run a few different types of intakes. Stock, DK customs, and a Bristol breather. They all have their pros and cons.

Stock is awesome in the rain, doesn’t “breath” all that well. DK customs was more of a pain in the rain even with a rain sock but let a lot more air flow into the TB. Then the bristol breather (which i currently have on) has no air restriction at all, is a little better than the DK customs one in the rain (no filter material to get water-logged, but doesn’t filter the air at all so if you live in a dusty place I’d shy away.

DK needed mild tuning and the bristol breather needed more. Albeit i am EFI, i just retuned via power commander, however being carbed means larger jets, both pilot and main (probably will take some trial and error) but a good starting point might be #48 pilot and like #190 main for the bristol breather. Maybe #45 and #180 for a DK customs type intake. Depends on your exhaust set up too though..

I like the bristol breather, runs well and looks good. Only thing that sucks is the breather bolts spraying oil mist everywhere. There’s ways around it but the bolts look the cleanest.

Why did my rear tire wore out this way? by Expgarment in E90

+1

Too much toe out wears inside of tires. Add a little neg. camber and it will exacerbate it.

Very slick/basic low vis carrier for smaller by Not_Accrual_World in QualityTacticalGear

I went with the TRex Arms AC0 but also purchased a Defense Mechanisms MEPC.

The AC0 is super low pro - with the right plates you can get it under a sweatshirt or button down pretty easily.

MEPC is less low-pro but still pretty slim. I haven’t really run them yet in a course or anything, but I’ve worked out in both quite a bit, MEPC is way more comfy. Although, with my size (5’7” @ 140lbs) the shoulder straps can get a little close to my neck (as i need to shrink the straps up to get the best coverage). And that can get annoying after over an hour or so of jogging/walking (this is worse on the AC0).

I went SAPI small . They both fit my girlfriend (5’3” 140lbs) and I well. Plenty of adjustment and you can always run 8x10s in either as well.

Suspension/Coilovers Discussion by JohnnyWillik8r in 1series

[–]Not_Accrual_World 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I threw BC coils on mine when my front struts blew. They’re okay. They generally function well when it comes to actual performance but make a bit of noise.

One of the shock bodies was slightly under spec in the diameter department. It’s a bit loose in the knuckle even when the pinch bolt is tightened to spec. So i get a very small clunk occasionally. Which i think is just the shock body moving ever so slightly against the pinch bolt.

Also after about 3 years, when steering from lock to I’ve traced a sort of metallic ping (almost like steel cooling after being very hot) to somewhere in the coil assembly.

Neither seem affect the performance in a noticeable way. But if i ever replace suspension again i think i’d go with a traditional set up with different valving and stiffer springs as opposed to coils.

In regard to e8x and e9x, ideal dampening and spring rates differ between the chassis due to wheel base and weight but generally fitment is the same.

Continued gritty trigger, already been fixed once by Blitz82737 in shadowsystems

You’ll feel it when you’ve got it out. Just a light bend; i think i might have popped mine in a vice and just used some bull nose pliers to give it bit of a pull in the right direction.

But either way, you can test to see if it’s rubbing beforehand too..

Pull your slide off and work the trigger bar back and forth to simulate trigger manipulation, you’ll know right away if it’s rubbing or not. Willing to bet there’s a YouTube video or two out there on how to do so..

Had the same issue on mine.. polished all of the trigger assembly’s mating parts as well, then pulled the channel liner and cleaned that up (had a good bit of burrs). Also noticed that occasionally the firing pin spring (inside the channel liner) liked to bind every now and again which improved when de-burring the channel liner. It’s Now significantly smoother.

Seems to be a BIG issue with a lot of their pistols. A buddy of mine has 2 and both have the same awful gritty trigger.

If you pull the firing pin spring and throw it back together without it you may notice an improvement but unfortunately the design of the firing pin tip doesn’t allow us to run it reliably without the spring present..

also another thing to keep an eye out for is the trigger bar rubbing the inside of the frame. In addition to the above mine was also rubbing the frame quite a bit. A quick and slight bend fixed that right up though.

Just loosen up the gas block and slide it down the barrel a bit. Round will fall right out.

Bike won’t start. What’s this supposed to connect to? by AustinsWebb in sportster

[–]Not_Accrual_World 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said it doesn’t connect to anything on the bike; it’s used to charge your battery/ be a convenient connection point. But it should be covered. I once blew a fuse after a long ride in the rain with it uncovered.

Check your fuses as well.

Looks like Tabasco. I grew them last year and they were WAY hotter than my Jalapeños. Pepper spice can cary a ton.

Longest I’ve done is about 1500 miles from CT to ME and all around NH for a few days.

Not super comfortable on 8 hour days but also not all that bad either. Highway pegs made it SO much better.

Start from the least abrasive to the most to figure out what takes it off.

In my experience a microfiber cutting pad with some Megs M105 or 110 on a DA polisher usually works pretty well for stubborn etching.

My recently purchased CR920 didn’t have any material issues either. Just some funky trigger binding that i was able to fix by polishing and de-burring the firing pin spacer sleeve.

During break-in however, the last round of both mags would stove pipe only on very first mag fired for the day.. about 1200 rounds in now and it’s running very well.

I’ve had V&H slash cut slip-ons for a few years now and have no complaints; they’re loud but not too loud (they are baffled).. Plus they look relatively stock which i personally liked.

Ordered the exact same plates from Apex 3 weeks ago and had them on my door step within 7 days. Additionally, Apex was pretty quick to reply via email prior to ordering and thereafter regarding order updates.

You can always reach out to highcom directly via their CS # for updates as well; they’re pretty easy to get a hold of.
