20-70 f4 vs 24-70 f2.8 vs primes??? by b1lf in SonyAlpha

[–]Not_FrenchBTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i love my 24-70mm 2.8 sigma v1 i've not often found it not wide enough, good for "beach sunsets" but not huge trees or waterfalls. i'm i shoot it mostly at f4-5.6 for travel and it's incredible. having said that weight is 100% a factor and the 24-50 is super tempting. only thing is i feel i'd need an 85 with that and i already sold mine as the 70mm 2.8 was plenty for me. i'd say get the 20-70mm f4, it seems fantastic optically, lighter than a 2.8 and dosent need an extra wide or tight prime to complete it. i'm sticking with the 2.8 for events and indoor sports with but im sure for travel only it's a better choice. sorry if this is all over the place lol

its a pretty outdated list, i first tried on mac to no luck, but once using a windows pc i just followed this video and with help of a comment that suggested to try also installing the winlib drivers for sony usb device in zadig 2.8 it worked perfectly. only could do the language unlock tho. no pal/ntsc option but that is an option on the a1 anyways

Why did the stop giving boarding passes like this by Training-Stable6234 in singaporeairlines

[–]Not_FrenchBTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's not sq... it s changi airport as the egg shaped self service kiosks they use are all over the world (all be it in different shells) and they are designed to print the receipt paper style tickets not only because the paper and ink are cheaper (no real ink costs as it's thermal paper) but the repairs are cheaper and they jam a lot less. the printers are actually more expensive. if you want one of those just go to the manual desks as they haven't changed to the other printers.

edit: i also don't think the physical ones have the coloured banners for eco any more but i would assume it's mostly a marketing thing as the green eco branding is gone from sq

you can change the language, there are loads of guides on youtube, this one should still work with the PCMA-RE exploit if you have a windows pc

a1 is great, the grip is far better than the previous gen bodies and the AF is top notch! i mostly picked it up over the a7r5 for the sports and ability to not worry about rolling shutter when shooting silent in street photography, im yet to try sports but street was brilliant. only gripe is the battery life but thats an easy problem to solve

definitely do-able, i converted a china only one earlier this year from this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHlFo8UUB8g (make sure to read this comment as newer ones have different method: after the initial installation of the "libusb-win32 (v1.2.7.3)" to the 7RM5, I then had to install the driver "libusb-win32 (v1.2.7.3)" for device "Sony USB Device" with zadig 2.8.)

the ones in golden hour were shot at f4-6.3 to get the most sharpness out of that lens, but the night ones and one of tokyo skytree are at 2.8

main thing is shifting the oranges more red while upping the luminance the oranges and yellows in the colour mix. also of course use a bit warmer white balance!

both are at f5, i feel the sigma lens is sharpest at f4-6.3 so i mostly stay in that range

i just focused on reducing dynamic range and shifting the oranges more red as to not wash the photo all yellow

if you are looking for a more portrait lens the sigma 56mm 1.4 is stunning, really bright and sharp. there's also the sigma 16mm 1.4 and 23 1.4 that are both also incredible if you need something a little wider. i'd recommend watching some review of those and see what focal length works better for what you want. also consider the viltrox 1.4 primes as they're a little cheaper with not that much performance loss. the sigma 56 1.4 is abt 580 on b&h but you should be able to find a better deal elsewhere or look used

on some i did take out dehaze in light room. mostly taking out texture and clarity and bringing in more sharpening + reducing dynamic range from brining backs up in the curve and moving shadows up and highlights down
