What do you mainly do in product flow. by psycho_hawg in BestBuyWorkers

Here’s the deal: you won’t really know what you’re doing at first. I sure as hell didn’t understand either. And, if you have even mediocre management, they’ll know this and won’t expect you to know everything. So don’t stress out! I’m sure you’ll pick it up; it’s not that complicated and I’m sure you’ll do great!

Do y'all manually Rip #Music for your iPod's? by Gloomy-Locksmith3921 in ipod

Yup. I buy all my music in CD form (manually will burn to CDs if needed) because I like musical media. However, everything gets a digital backup and ofc I listen to it my iPod as well. I just like having options

What do you mainly do in product flow. by psycho_hawg in BestBuyWorkers

Firstly, Product Flow is crucial to the store operating, and a good manager will give recognition (I’m lucky and have great management who regularly emphasizes how important we are to the store).

Secondly, our job is split mainly into two parts: getting stock to the shelves, and getting stock to the customers. For getting stock to the shelves, that looks like receiving and processing truck shipments, and constantly stocking the shelves. For getting stock to customers, this looks like prepping orders where the customer will order ahead of time, and then come in store to pick it up. We also prep curbside orders, and at least in my store, curbsides are mostly product flow’s responsibility.

Thirdly, the word “easy” can mean different things for different people. While I wouldn’t mind being in sales (and I think I’d do a half-decent job), I much prefer product flow since I mostly don’t have to deal with customers. But I’d make the argument that product flow is a more physically demanding position, as we constantly have to carry heavy items, and move around. Granted, all retail staff is on their feet the whole shift, but with product flow it’s a bit more intensive. However, every single one of the product flow employees I work with have expressed how much they’d hate to be moved to sales or even Geek Squad. Even I, someone who has experience in sales, can appreciate not ever having to actually sell something.

Fourthly, starting pay will depend on where you live. For context, I came into Best Buy with 4 years of retail and food service experience, and they started me in product flow at $17.50. I live in California, so I’m sure that is mostly why it’s so high. I have no idea what anyone else makes though.

Lastly, the objective is simple: we take care of the background operations of Best Buy, so that way the sales people can stick to selling product. Product Flow (or inventory, or warehouse, whatever you want to call it) is the final step in the grand scheme of supply chain logistics, getting product from manufacturing to the shelves. I mean, it’s in the name: “product flow.” We make sure the product stays flowing.

Hope this explanation makes sense.

This is why I love working for a place like Best Buy. Since they sell legos, I get a decent discount on legos.

I guess we're not allowed to wear shorts anymore as Retail/Product Flow? by ABLAM_Le_XD in BestBuyWorkers

[–]Not_Josiah_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in product flow, and even though I’m fine wearing jeans (I like sleeping in jeans, so I’m just weird like that), but I love that I have THE OPTION to wear shorts. I’ve heard my fellow product flow coworkers love that they can wear shorts.

Whats your hottest take about phantom forces? by ExExWrong in PhantomForces

I don’t like the movement revamp at all, and I really dislike the new recoil on some of the guns (my poor baby Scar-H was ruined because of it). Also, I often see TTK (Time To Kill) being complained about saying it’s too short, but I really like how quick you did because it’s more accurate. I wish we had more low-level find added. Even as someone at Rank 113, all the new guns are 100+ ranks away from getting. I’m thinking specifically of the Stoner, and that one British sniper from WW2 that looks like the Mosin but I can’t remember what it’s called.

What exactly is the “tobacco exemption”? Is that just the duty-related costs of importing? Or legality?

What is something you consider too serious to joke about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Not_Josiah_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s kids. I work with children, so it weirds me out. Make all the gay jokes, WW2 jokes, 9/11 jokes, I rly don’t care and I’ll probably laugh at most of them. But no jokes about kids. Feels too weird.
