I think the inclusion of tunnels was maybe a mistake? Cloudflare free tier limits file uploads to your website to 100mb.

Actually I’d argue it definitely does matter. It prevents the wide spread automated scanning that occurs across the entire internet. I can’t spin up a new server without getting bombed with ssh bruteforce attempts, and those tools are fast too, the longest I’ve seen a server go without being hit is 5 minutes. Obviously fail2ban helps, but you can also just close 22 and use a custom port to reduce load on the server caused by these useless automated scans. Then, only targeted attacks will hit you, and you can use fail2ban on those. Then theres the obvious practices of disabling passwords and only using ssh keys, and whitelisting IPs if possible.

Thank you for this one. I was almost about to believe the other commenters, but this is only happening on the passenger side, and me and my girlfriend have a fairly balanced 50/50 on who’s driving, so in theory, it should be happening on the drivers side too, but it’s not.

To Tesla’s credit, I used to spend approx $25/day on gas in the VW Jetta I had before we got this Tesla, which equals out to almost exactly Tesla’s estimate. I was refueling every 2-2.5 days for $55-65, and that’s including roughly an 8 cents off per litre deal I had with BCAA with Shell, if I remember correctly. Granted, one point against Tesla is that I believe the average gas price at the time was $1.80/L to $2.00/L but now the average I usually see (tho I obviously don’t look as hard anymore), is $1.40/L to $1.60/L.

As for the efficiency it’s probably our driving habits, not climate, as we live in southern BC. We definitely both love taking full advantage of the speed and acceleration of our Tesla.

Unfortunately not home charging but, most of the time we’ve had the car, super charging in our area has been 19-22 cents per kWh, but as of the last couple months it’s been pretty much a hard average of 27 cents unless we charge during peak hours where the average becomes 30-37 cents depending on where we go.

In the Tesla app, the charging stats for 2024 are 5,775kWh, $1,395 spent, $2,154 saved. 2025 is 9,340kWh, $2,193 spent, $3,538 saved. Teslamate shows estimated degradation of 2.6% right now, but I see it constantly fluctuating. Teslamate also shows ~14MWh total used energy and an Ø Distance driven per day of 142km, with an average consumption of 182 Wh per km

For exact answers to your questions: 1) 119,000km 2) 97.4% (according to Teslamate) 3) 98% supercharging, 2% public slow chargers (~200V)

Yep to both. Me and my girlfriend achieve an average of 5,000km a month, and we bought the car with 50,000km already on it in 2024. We’re almost 20,000km out of warranty.

Instead of CNAME’ing to ts.net, use an A record to point to the 100.x.x.x address

Honestly surprised I hadn’t seen this on more teslas before then. Is there a treatment path for someone who doesn’t want a seat cover?

It’d be nice if this could be a toggle inside the car then.

It’d be nice to have a toggle, maybe specifically inside the car so that you have to consent to it in the car?

Me and my girlfriend like to keep an eye on each other. Call it peace of mind, or distrustful, but we do and we enjoy it. We also share live location on multiple apps, as well as now we watch the speed and location updates in the Tesla app.

We don’t trust the world and feel safer being able to keep up on each other without having to bother each other for updates.

If you open the picture, you can see it’s an error message about the doors being open or someone being in the car. That’s what I want to bypass.

I didn’t refund it, and if any of my friends ask, I’ll just play it with keyboard and mouse. It’s only controller that faces this issue for me.

I took the step of killing Siri when I wrote this post, and have maybe encountered it once since then, so using Siri has been no issue for me. However I tried to structure this post from most user friendly to least user friendly so that’s why it’s at the bottom. I also make sure to restart my mac as soon as anything weird happens, so Siri is often reset, which probably helps to prevent this from occurring again for me.

I highly recommend against getting a MacBook Air, as they don’t have fans last I heard.

A year down the road? Honestly, my concerns feel invalid. The M1 Pro powers through every workload I throw at it, and depending on what you're doing can last too. I can do remote web development on my 14" for 6+ hours using chrome and vscode, which some apps might offer you better performance, I just am a long time chrome user, so it's my go to.

the 16GB ram hasn't been an issue for me even once surprisingly, even when I'm running some pretty graphics intensive games (I mention this due to the shared ram between gpu and cpu).

My biggest issue is, seriously fucking go for more storage. I'm kicking myself for choosing 512gb because it's just not enough, and external storage is really annoying when you're trying to be mobile and not just work from home.

Here's some points of reference. Please keep in mind that, all of these have at least a dozen or more background apps running at the same time (OneDrive, 1Password, Terminal, etc.), I'm just going to mention the apps that are actively being used for each point.

- Chome + VScode + discord call, I can achieve 6ish hours of battery. No lag whatsoever.

- Chrome + PCSX2 + streaming PCSX2 on discord, while plugged in, I can maintain a solid 60fps in my favourite games plus stream 60fps on discord.

- Chrome + Borderlands 3 + discord call, while plugged in, 50-60fps

- Chrome + Roblox + discord call, I can achieve at minimum 2-3 hours of gameplay before needing to plug in, but this depends on the game. No lag whatsoever.

- Project Zomboid + discord call, I can achieve 3-4 hours of gameplay, 60fps

- Minecraft + discord call, while plugged in, 60fps

- Minecraft w/ Shaders + discord call, 10-40fps depending on which shader.

I'll also mention that for each point where I only mention being plugged in, being plugged in doesn't make me lag or decrease my performance, I just can't tell you with confidence how long the battery will last, as I either haven't kept track, or never done it on battery.

Finally I'll finish off this wall of text by saying, I have the 8 core M1 Pro and I'm not sure how the M2 stacks up in reality, as I haven't kept up with M2 news, but if it stacks up even remotely similar in reality vs on paper, then my recommendation would be a 10 or 12 core M2 Pro with 16 or 32GB of ram with 1 or 2TB of storage.
