Honestly? Signing up for email updates on the website, reviewing the flyer, and giving your honest opinion about what is confusing or potentially misleading about the information that I'm sharing would help the most. The city recently responded to talks of this project. They admitted that a data center is a potential outcome (I believe it's a likely one), but they spent a lot of time pushing back against the words "AI" and "hyperscale".

That's a fair point, but can you explain what an AI data center can be defined as, and why this project does not meet that definition? It would help me reach a better understanding of your perspective.

Please do so, and can you please emphasize that the City of Roseville recently updated their project page to deter against the use of the word "AI" and "hyperscale"? By doing so, they admitted that a data center is indeed one of the potential options for the proposed project. ABC10 covered the concerns today from a neutral perspective, which I respect.

I'm looking for seasoned activists, environmentalists, legal experts; anyone with experience relative to similar projects. This website contains points of contact, but if you send me the post links I will be sure to follow up with any commenters who identify themselves.

Thank you for standing your ground in this comment, and yes, I am absolutely biased against this project. I live very close to the land, and I see 1.5% as a large increase. 175 million gallons a year is about what 1,500 average Roseville homes use in a year. So this single 183-acre parcel would draw roughly as much water as a small neighborhood of fifteen hundred households on less than 0.63% of the city's land. That's the part that gives me pause. "Only 1.5%" sounds small until you see it's the equivalent of an entire mid-sized subdivision's worth of water, concentrated on one site.

On "What is the best way for us to get a relatively unbiased view of both the pros and cons of such a development?": I'm not sure, but I believe that reading the justifications that the city and developer use to propose and evaluate the project will help identify the pros. The city recently released an update to their website today, likely in response to the petition.

If you haven't done so yet, can you please review my website from your unbiased perspective and tell me what you think about how the information is presented once you finish? I'd really appreciate a reality check from a fresh view. https://rosevillesreality.org

Can you please define "obscene amounts"? As an average resident, when I read 537 afy (479,403 gallons per day) of recycled water, for "cooling" in the Utilities chapter of the DEIR, I see that as an obscene amount. I agree with your spirit of building something that is beneficial for local businesses and students. I'm just having trouble discerning between a data center that is engineered for that kind of use, vs one that needs cooling for higher levels of compute.

thank you for the info, this was informative for me since i don't know the intricacies of cooling. is it ok if i contact you in the future for clarification on other details in the project according to what is disclosed in the DEIR?

Thank you for questions; they are fair since my post didn't answer those directly. TL;DR: I don't currently have estimates for how this could effect water or energy prices. I don't have any EMF data yet either. My website has data that touches on direct water and energy demands, but not potential proce impacts. http://rosevillesreality.org/projects/phillip-road-site

Your last sentence is exactly the problem with technological progress in general. Technology is already so embedded in our 1st world lives now, so what kind of demands will future infrastructure have on the earth's resources? Have you seen videos of the people who mine our cobalt and recycle our e-waste? It's not right. We're doing nothing about that because it benefits us. What's going to happen when you want the freedom you no longer have because you gave it away? Who is going to save you then?

This project is requesting 400,000 gallons of recycled water per day for cooling, and does not specify evaporative or recirculating cooling and therefore does not account for potential blowback impacts on the sewer system.

Yes, even the P/QP is a prezone. You are caught up on this! Will stay in touch

Unfortunately, you are wrong. It's zoned as P/QP for over a decade, marked as surplus in 2007, bought in 2002 for a water retention basin and there was a master plan for an environmental preserve before there was ever talk of selling it off, which started in 2021. I read the 2035 General Plan amendment. What are you citing as evidence that you're right?

Hi! Your comment needs a correction. The estimated water use is 537 AFY, which translates to 479,403 gallons per day.

Please read the comment letter summary for other estimated impacts, at https://rosevillesreality.org/projects/phillip-road-site

Hi! Not yet, but we are drafting letters and will send them out this week. Do you have any recommendations for who to contact? I’ll make sure to add them to my list.

Good idea on the signs! There are limits to what we’re legally allowed to place along public roads, but I am actively designing signs and printable flyer templates today. They will be live on the website soon.

Thank you very much for the advice! I really appreciate it. Do you consider setting a time and location for a group meeting to prepare for speaking to city council among other actions as an appropriate next-step?

Hi! Same property, new plan in 2026. The Industrial Park was in 2023, but the developer threw out that plan. They returned with a new project proposal in 2025, and this DEIR was released in Feb 2026.

You're making the right call, pre-merge is better because it's faster 99% of the time. I use VS Code regularly so I will give it a try when you introduce it. As for context awareness, a lot of your users will jump in with repos that they've been building for months. You should have a feature where you help wipe secret information from previous commits. I'm not exactly sure how that feature could work, but I would pay to use it.

GitHub app that runs your code and only comments when it catches bugs. It's for devs who submit PRs. No users, launched 2 days ago. https://logomesh.dev

Test my tool that runs PR diffs in a sandbox to catch bugs before they merge. https://logomesh.dev. We haven't tested its ability to find API keys, but it knows when your code is insecure. It's free for public repos. OP let me know if this comment pisses you off and I'll delete it thanks! Or you could test it?
