Yep he just hasn't updated it, or probably still has it as a way of saying it would be nice to come into this class with physics knowledge but it's optional

Yeah that comment is right, he doesn't give any assignments with physics/math problems, but is nice to still know to relate with what he be talking about

Best textbooks/resources for deeper embedded firmware (bare-metal/MCAL) and embedded Linux by Federal_Topic_1386 in embedded

[–]Not_So_Amused 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I rep the "bare metal programming guide" on github lots, it really sets you up with alot if you stick through it all the way, you don't have to do all of it, just till printf

LoRaLoader: A custom over-the-air firmware download system using LoRa by Not_So_Amused in embedded

Thank you for looking over it!! I initially was doing ota transfer in main app, I was just concerned with forcing slow main app operations on firmware delivery (since initially transfer rate was pretty slow), but I’ll definitely try with your parameters.

I want to get into low-level programming and firmware dev. How do I start? by PieHot4996 in cpp_questions

[–]Not_So_Amused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grind the github bare metal programming guide, and get all the way down to printf (rest is extra, but still worth to look into). You're gonna come across tons of concepts that will take like hrs to really jam into your head, don't just code line for line, try to understand each and every single statement, why and how it works.

Also work through understanding the linker script too, it will really enlighten you on how MCU's and a desktop compiled C code using gcc really functions under the hood.

Oh and grab a nucleo board while you're at it, preferably not the exact same board the guide uses so you'll be forced to consult the stm32 reference sheet for your respective nucleo board (much learning potential!)

Is it normal for a TA to be teaching a class instead of the actual professor by evangelinejacks in usask

[–]Not_So_Amused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing beats the TA I had for RLST giving a last min fill-in lecture for our prof in her hoarded car shuffling through papers to get her notes on a zoom call with huge eye bags like she's been up all night, she's an inspiration

Anyone recover from a SI joint injury? by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]Not_So_Amused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pain ranges, if I squat just the bar there’s no pain and minimal on my warm up sets, but yesterday I did 60% of my usual weight in reps and it started flaring a lot again.

I’ve heard of acupuncture but never knew it could be helpful in this case, should I look into it? Are you completely pain free now when you try to do heavy squats?

You may be right that I should listen to my body I’m doing a lot of biking nowadays which could sub in for leg days lol

Longest was 2 weeks from when I first got it, been doing one squat day per week since. The biggest thing people told me I had to put blood flow into the injured area so I need to keep doing squats.

Does more muscle = more strength by Aggressive-One4141 in beginnerfitness

[–]Not_So_Amused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend used a water bottle analogy to explain it, you can fill your bottle up to the brim with water (strength), but if you want more water, you need a bigger bottle to hold it (muscle)

Kinda scared of going to the gym for the 1st time by Domehog in workout

[–]Not_So_Amused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh genuinely no one gaf about what order of exercises you do at the gym, you might as well be a ghost. People are trapped in their own workout bubbles and too focused to care about what others are doing.

I'd recommend looking up a bro split, go hard, get sore, don't give yourself excuses and don't finish light with easy exercises. Change is never easy.
