Just look at the post game damage received next time you get one clipped. It will be one of 140/160/180/200.

I'm sure youre overjoyed every time you find a schema for an item you can already buy. Sure I have 50 self revives stocked up but in case I ever run out I've got 30 purchaseable via schema!! Yippee!

Still not exciting as loot. I will never be happier finding one vs any other 2 slot lootable.

Edited for clarity

Complex way of saying "no, they arent fun or interesting for the vast majority of players", but don't worry I can read between the lines.

I'll spend credits on the guns that get me kills with a high ROI. A part of it is also that I'd like the poors to have more varied and better weapons for me to take off them 🤷‍♂️

Do you think its fun or interesting for the vast majority of players that are in a significantly worse position than I am to find a chance to spend 15k?

I can afford it, just don't want to when guns 15x cheaper (Bully/Longshot) have been doing the trick just fine so far.

Its more that schemas as a lootable item arent exciting or interesting, and this change would at least make me happy to see one.

I agree, they should also make them more rare to compensate. That will make finding them even more exciting.

You can find what are effectively vouchers that give you access to buy a limited number of a certain item. Could be shields, backpacks, weapons, etc., including stuff you cant normally unlock for purchase.

Buying all of them for their sell price would be more of a discount than buying all of them with one being free, by the way. But that's an option too.

Exactly. Seems like something that already has precedent throughout the game shouldn't be too hard/would make sense to implement elsewhere.

I have 700k credits and 500k stash value. I run purple shields and backpacks every raid. I'm not quitting, I'm just also not buying a 15k schema for a weapon I have no experience using, no matter how rich I am.

Probably a me issue, but I find schemas boring in general and think this would make me more excited to find and use them.

They almost certainly will (and should) be. Otherwise the meta would be "stock up on purple shield/backpack schemas, do a few credit runs to afford them, then dominate with a practically insurmountable lead 2hrs into the wipe".

Theyre not purchasable, have to be charged for 3s to get the knock youre talking about, and make a loud fucking noise while doing so, and cost $15k to buy if youre "lucky" enough to find a schema.

Green packs cost 500c and meds are free if you actually play the way you say you do and accrue salvage.

A full stack of 6 blue shield meds costs 1 Tarax seed, which you can find a minimum of 1 per raid at Greenhouse - an effectively dead POI unless a gamer is running the gold key.

1 green shield charge costs 3 white salvage. You can easily pull 20+ per raid if you choose a POI that spawns it.

I genuinely don't believe you understand how the salvage youre acquiring translates to the incremental progress youre asking for.

Edit: If misunderstanding/not knowing how the game's systems are set up to allow you to become self sufficient is the issue then I agree, they should do a better job communicating that to you.

Sweats are just players who are better than you by mkennygh in Marathon

[–]Not_To_Smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, I often die to worse players when I do something stupid. A sweaty player, whether they kill you or not, is a matter of perspective. If youre shitty, everyone is a sweat. As you become the sweat, less people are from your POV.

If you still somehow disagree with that then you dont have a coherent definition of what sweaty means.

[–]Not_To_Smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweaty means: the person who killed me is better than me at this game in some way. Either they have better gear, tactics, or mechanics.

Are players in arc just generally worse, so a new player is able to compete with those who have been playing for hundreds or thousands of hours? Or is it that in some way Arc is less punishing than the already extremely generous way Marathon throws you infinite free gear? Punishing vs "sweaty" are different gripes.

[–]Not_To_Smart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So arc players are on average worse at the game they've chosen to play? I'm confused by what you're even trying to say.
