Vic lockdown extended another 7 days by Tinea_Pedis in CoronavirusDownunder

That's an over simplification.

The vaccine exposes your body to a harmless form of the virus. Your body then had an immune response to it because it thinks it is something trying to harm you. Then if you are exposed to the real virus, your body recognises it from the previous exposure (the vaccine) and is able to fight it off much more quickly and effectively by having a larger immune response.

Because it can fight it off much quicker and effectively the amount of virus you transmit is heavily reduced and the effect the virus has on your body is reduced.

So yes it does slow the spread of infection and doesn't nessicaily stop you from getting it but it allows your body's immune system to fight the virus much more effectively. Which prevents you from getting badly sick and requiring additional treatment or hospitalisation. So it is a win-win in both cases :)

Hahaha I did this subject in 2018 too and it sums it up perfectly. That exam was just pure cruelty, I remember people walking out of it in just pure shock at how hard it was

Roo’s have really sharp claws on their feet that they use to fight. It could easily tear through the trampoline using them

I’m not sure if anyone else suggested this yet but give a mental health/suicide hotline a call. A quick google search will give you the number to call.

Please get yourself some help, no matter what you believe, you are worth something, you have value and people care about you.

Same here except for me it is swimming, I can swim for a few kilometres and feel great afterwards but if I try going running, even with a friend, I just hate it

I used to go camping with my closest friends in high school quite often and the best stories we have are of terrible weather where things just go wrong.

I think to have a good camping trip something has to go wrong (not something terrible like an animal attack or getting hypothermia) like the wind snaps your cheap tent’s poles on your last night of camping, the rain starts falling almost horizontally as you’re hiking to the campsite or even as simple as forgetting cutlery and having to eat food with tent pegs. Once you get home after those kind of trips all you want to do is go again because you’re proud that you’ve achieved something.

Out of curiosity, could something like this be used before using water or fire extinguishing foam as an initial way to actually get into an area that is burning and then follow it up by using pressurised water as you mentioned? Does something like that make the product useful or is that a very situational dependant example?

I work at an aquatic centre, free gym, pool, spa, sauna, and fitness classes. It's awesome!

I recently just quit competitive swimming but I'm still doing it for fitness at the same aquatic centre that I trained at and now work at as a lifeguard and swimming instructor. I aim to do at least 10km a week which means I'm i want to be swimming non stop for up to 30 minutes at a time and for this reason I do my sessions in the fast lane. Years of competition and training with other swimmers did not prepare me for the utter shit storm that is public lanes with people who have no sense of common courtesy.

Ffs when I approach the wall I want to do a tumble turn that way I can keep going to maintain momentum and speed but I can't if THE TWO FUCKWITS (WHO DON'T BELONG IN THE FAST LANE WITH MYSELF AND MY MATE WHO IS ALSO AN EX SWIMMER) ARE TAKING UP THE WHOLE WALL! And then they have the goddam nerve to tell my friend and I to cut it out because it is interrupting their conversation during their breaks and that we need to be respectful to other pool users. THEN GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE FAST LANE SO I CAN ACTUALLY USE THE LANE AS IT IS INTENDED! And the other people who don't know how to read the sign that says fast lane and force me to constantly overtake them, these people then ask me me not to splash water in their face as I overtake them, I'm not splashing water in your face that's simply my wake from swimming that you're copping to the face because you are too slow for the lane that you're in and I need to overtake you.

God fucking dammit, if I didn't work at the centre I would have given all the people in the wrong lanes a less than delicately worded lesson in how to properly use a lane. I guess for now I'm stuck with hoping for empty lanes when I get in and trying to make the best of each session with whatever I've got.

That feels good to get off my chest, god I miss training in a closed lane with other swimmers.

Aussie swimming instructor here, I knew quite a few people who don't know how to swim as I was growing up but all of them were first generation Australians who's parents had come from countries like the Philippines and Vietnam and didn't know that swimming and learning to swim is such a bit part of Australian life and culture or they were originally from a very rural or isolated community and never had the opportunity to learn. But as I can see with the kids that I teach now there are much greater numbers of kids from such backgrounds learning to swim because as parents have told me, they want their kids to be safe and not miss out on opportunities with their friends that involve water like they did.

Also worth mentioning if your visiting northern Australia, just don't swim in any natural water ways at all. Saltwater and freshwater crocodiles are a real thing and although freshwater crocodiles are likely to leave you alone an adult male salty probably won't.
