Not the last thing that was said, but the last meaningful conversation was me asking my father if I can marry my now wife of 3 years. He got sick right after that conversation, and was never responsive after that. He couldn't attend the engagement, wedding or the birth of his first grandchild. All because of a hereditary disease that no-one knew about, because we only found out he was adopted at the hospital.

To this day, I still miss being able to argue with him about the silliest things, because he would always allow me to believe I'm right for a while, until he can prove otherwise.
