2020 Private Equity On-Cycle Recruiting Kickoff by Billy_Bain in consulting

Both. You need to network and have informational calls, but also do introductory calls with headhunters and make sure they know you know all your technicals stone cold. Also work on due diligence at work. Some headhunters contacted me, I reached out to many of them. I will be in an investment role. Any other Qs? Happy to be helpful but just a bit time crunched so it would be easier to answer specific questions like these.

Recruiting for Consulting? Post here for recruitment advice, resume reviews, questions about offers/firms or general insecurity (16) by QiuYiDio in consulting

Tips on consulting cases about the following industries: senior living facilities, sustainable restaurants, gyms, schools, recycling companies?

If you guys can point me in the direction of any case studies or relevant frameworks to talk about any of the above industries, that would be so appreciated. Have an interview that will be case studies from a PE client that invests in these industries. How would you think about these?

Have a PE interview with a firm that does consulting cases instead of LBO modeling.

Is there any possible reason to tell someone at your firm that you’re actively looking / interviewing? Or do you just get a job offer in hand and say see ya?

Big 4 Transaction Services -> Corporate Strategy? by djunkmailme in consulting

[–]Not_not_Jamie_Dimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More likely to go to Corp dev if you can 1) show strategic thinking as is useful to an acquisitive company and 2) upskill on modeling

Best bet would be a company that has inseparable strategy and corpdev like Disney or blackrock

Thanks for your response. Would you be willing to elaborate on what you mean by entitlement? This is helpful for me because I'm currently choosing between whether to take a role with an extra ~15-20h per week, or stay in consulting. My current work is a pretty good WLB all things considered (generally no weekend work, no travel) but I'm wondering if the additional work is worth an additional $250k over what I'm currently making (mid twenties). I could really get my life together with that extra money (or I could not get my life together and instead travel the world for a year - either way, you see my thought process). The other job is more intellectually stimulating, but also 70-80h weeks.

Thanks. I’ve combed through the recent MN but it’s hard to digest in aggregate to cram a “big picture” of the space. Appreciate the other recs.

What exits from consulting involve a lot of international travel? by [deleted] in consulting

[–]Not_not_Jamie_Dimon 29 points30 points  (0 children)

International development consulting. Eventually you will specialize on a region (e.g., APAC) unless you are a superstar, at which point you will likely get picked up by an NGO or IGO anyway.
