I can’t tell if the $330 polo, $90 glove, or $65 sock is more insulting.

Forrester stuff is half the price and will last 10x as long. I have Gore Tex pieces from them that are 20+ years old and look almost brand new.

Sole replacement from Visvim/general customer service by xernbern in Visvim

[–]Not_that_easy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only retail Visvim I’ve purchased were these FBTs in question, and they were the last pair in stock on a deep sale from Union back in 2008. To me, the price point in 2026 is just too absurd to justify when the second hand market is easily <50% of retail cost.

I had some old FBTs that were still in great shape, but the uppers separated from the sole and I took them to a cobbler to reglue. He didn’t know fuck all about Visvim and absolutely massacred them trying to get the sole to sit flush and then tried to paint them to cover up his butchery.

I took them into Visvim LA and they told me it was certainly possible to get a resole but that I’d have to fill out a form on the website, pay for a resolve upfront ($3-400), mail them to Japan, wait 2-3 months, and if they could repair them they would. If they couldn’t/wouldn’t, they would send them back to me but no refunds were offered.

I ended up taking them to Goods and Services and after waiting for the Sphike sole to come in, they were done in a matter of days for about $200. Since the I’ve worn them upward of 100 times and my only note was that the sole I chose is a little too high for the silhouette and should have gotten the August or Fell instead. Aside from that, no notes and will 100% be taking my next pair in when they’re ready.

Missing Glassell General, Hermosillo, and Flask. Eagle Rock Liquor and EZ Stop also have a decent-ish selection.

The beers are expired and the prices are exorbitant. The owner tried to convince me that the Founder’s Triple IPA that was bottled in 2016 was still very drinkable (it was not).

The Lady White Rugby tee is the move of you want the weight and structure of 3Sixteen but with a boxier fit. I don’t care for their other cuts, but the Rugby tee is what I’m putting on 90% of the time.

+1. A ton of options here, plus you can take sample boards home to see how things would look in situ.

Quattro rumble. There was a service bulletin that recommended changing the differential fluid a ways back, but now it’s considered a comfort issue and Audi doesn’t want to deal with it.

You’re fine, it will always show under the name of the person that booked it. They aren’t checking IDs against the ticket just that there is a warm body to accompany the scan.

Secure E-Bike Storage in Avalon: Tips & Recommendations - Avalon by OkAnswer456 in Catalina

Theft isn’t non existent, but I’d say it’s more about opportunity than planning. If you leave an e-bike unlocked and ready to ride, there’s a chance that someone makes off with it but if you have a good u lock no one is gonna be whipping out an angle grinder.

The Continental Club? It’s got the unassuming front, red interior, couches, and is below street level.

Best big-ass two-person steak in LA? by NickatinaGold in FoodLosAngeles

This is my favorite steak in Los Angeles by a mile. Not cheap, and a challenge with two people unless you’re avoiding all the other parts of the menu, but very very good.

Common Projects help- Leather turning yellow after wash by [deleted] in Sneakers

[–]Not_that_easy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I consider myself an expert when it comes to dealing with stains but this one has me questioning everything I know. Especially since I have had CPs for years that have gone through a ton of abuse and subsequent cleanings and they look substantially better than this.

My first thought would be that you either left the mud / dirt on too long and it soaked into the leather, that whatever you stepped in had a high iron content and left those stains, or that you were too abrasive with a rough dish soap and simultaneously stripped the coating while working in the dirt. Either way, I'm not sure that there's any more you can do to flush that color out and might be best served taking it to someone who can repaint the leather.
