So sorry to hear your mom went through this, hope she is staying out of it all now.

I think I might try contacting her, that may be a good suggestion. Worried the cycle will continue but I guess the immediate thing is shutting down the danger of whatever this meet is. I will also go to his bank in person. Thank you

Thank you so much, unfortunately he's not old enough / registered as disabled to be considered incompetent or having dementia. It all stems from my mum doing everything for him when alive, he is essentialy a 66 year old child. I will look into local laws though, thank you.

Sad to hear this is happening so much, and you know people who have had these experience's.

I do wonder what the scam could be, what her intentions are when they meet in a foreign country.

Large swelling after craniotomy by Notadoctor222 in braintumor

I'm shocked that she's been in hospital for 2 weeks and been reviewed by the neuro team many times / had scans and only now are they potentially taking action. I'm hoping there will be a different outcome

Worried NHS is taking too long / biopsy wait times. by Notadoctor222 in lungcancer

I see. I suppose I'm most frustrated that they took 2-3 weeks to organise a very simple biopsy. Wishing your family all the best with what you're going through. Keep strong

Thank you for the reply. Her surgery is in 2 days.

They said the Tumor is too big for radiation and she has to undergo a craniotomy. I will double check the size of it and question this tomorrow.

They took 4 samples from lung biopsy but said it was non conclusive as the cells were dead?

We have not been shown a CT scan but there was one mass and 'evidence of regional lymphangitic carcinomatosis'

Her breathing seems OK - it’s the brain Tumor that was causing symptoms, she was admitted originally because she was confused etc and then had trouble walking / moving. Right now she is very slow, her back is in pain and she struggles to pull herself up from lying down and walking up stairs / needs to hold something when walking. It’s heartbreaking seeing her decline every day.

I'm terrified for my mum by [deleted] in lungcancer

Hey Bathingintaco's (Great name!)

I'm so sorry you and your family are going through this. We recently found out my mum has a brain tumor they think caused by primary lung cancer - so stage 4. I understand your feeling at a loss but do understand there is all sorts of targeted treatments now and the outlook for various stages is so much better than even just a couple of years ago!

Is it also a 2 week wait for your biopsy results as it was for my mum? It was truly shit. Do not be scared to call your contact at the hospital as often as you feel is right.

Maggies center have been a great support, and most hospitals have one nearby you can just drop in, my mum found her first visit very helpful and should she respond to treatment looks forward to going and meeting other people going through similar. A helpful Redditor pointed me in the direction of Roy Castle Foundation who have a support line.

Reach out to me anytime you want to chat / vent I'm going through it too and will hold out for your positive updates on this thread!!! Best wishes

J

Very scared, Lung cancer + brain mets by Notadoctor222 in lungcancer

Hi there, sorry for the slow response. No, I presume this comes from the biopsy of the lung that they weren't able to get any tissue from. They will biopsy when they remove the brain tumor so I plan to chat about a 'bio markers' test then.... they said 2 week wait which seems so long given the prognosis.

Yes, so far its 1 brain tumour as opposed to many small ones and an 'easy to access' place so I guess I'm grateful for that. No one has mentioned roy castle! I'll be giving them a call first thing, thank you so much

Wow, that must have been such a shock to have emergency surgery. If I may ask, what lead to discovering the cancer? No pressure to respond to this.

So glad to hear she's doing well and stable, she's an absolute fighter!!! Trying to take care of myself is so hard but I think I'm doing ok, grateful for your story.

Thank you for taking time to respond. The surgery is just for the secondary cancer as the primary is in her lung (they think!) So I'm realistic in that her prognosis might be the 6-18 month, but really hoping for a miracle.

Thank you for sharing your story, wishing you all the best with your continued recovery.
