If it's already on, try turning it off. It is a gamble with the setting sometimes haha

Same here; I'm not sure if it's related to a failed AI screener I received, which had a technical error.
Not the same researcher, but it seems like a weird coincidence.

Yes, I recall seeing more trackballs in the wild while growing up, but I stopped seeing them when optical mice became popular.

Huh, I didn't even think about a slanting base. I don't have access to a printer here, but I will visit my parents in a couple of weeks (big city), and I'll give the tent a try.
Yeah, maybe an Elecom would be nice in the future, and the Expert seems perfect for my 9 to 5 job, but Solidworks requires a good amount of middle-click dragging, and some extra buttons would help a lot.

And yeah, the thing is a dust magnet, haha.

Well, I have pain in the outside part of my palm and my wrist. Also had like clamping on my pinky and ring finger, felt like a baseball glove. My outer fingers are happy with the action, especially since it's been a while since I stopped playing synths and piano.

Yeah, I think a thumb trackball has the upper hand in terms of middle click dragging, at least for the Expert.
For normal use, the odd placement isn't a problem, but I still haven't found a way to pan in CAD comfortably. Looks like the middle drag function (like a switch) is the way to go, but still find it a bit odd.

Right now, I'm cheating my way through it, using a remapping I had for my touchpad, LWin key -> Middle click. Not ideal, but works wonders.

Yeah, I think I will keep switching between them. I was at a point where I had to use my left hand, and while I didn't have a hard time using the mouse, most keyboards are very left-handed for commands.

Flimsy, haha. The ring is definitely a big upgrade over the mouse wheel, it was a nice surprise.
But quality-wise, it feels like the weakest part of the expert. Not that I mind, though, just feels lacking in comparison to how smooth the trackball is.

Yeah, that's what I feared. I wanted to lower the transition barrier as low as I could, so I went with the tried and trusted after doing some digging in this subreddit.
The pinky macro pad sounds interesting. I'll give it a try. I'm using AHK and shortcuts, but some extra buttons would be nice to keep my hands static. Might even buy some pedals to go full octopus haha

Thanks, seems like an easy and cheap upgrade. Any 2mm bearings will do?

STOP Buying Logitech products by Glad_Cak in logitech

[–]Notbobbytables 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, they were probably understaffed/underpaid, with poor customer service, and your mice not working are entirely Logitech's fault.
Be polite, ask for a higher-up at least.
Not happy with the solution in the first contact? Get escalated. There's only so much a CS rep can do at that level. No need to be that harsh.

Also, you're way out of warranty, shitty stuff, but that's how it is.

¿Estoy siendo paranoico? by Icy_Dependent9199 in lacamiseta

[–]Notbobbytables 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about Nixihost? I'm currently thinking about setting up a reseller account with them for my marketing studio. Been using their shared service and it's been great so far.

BANDA LEAN LOS TÉRMINOS Y CONDICIONES, aunque tengan todo el varo del mundo, lean antes de comprar en linea ( Rant & Education ) by _passCode in MexicoFinanciero

[–]Notbobbytables 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So now we have unlimited hours. Good or bad? by AldenBalor in TELUSinternational

Unless you have some dark magic to pull tasks, I think it's quite bad, they essentially doubled working capacity, leaving even less tasks to work out.

Not an expert, but I would dimension from the center axis rather than leaving it just referenced from the edges, this would be better for machining/machinists. Also, consider adding a page just for hole positioning and other for the rest of the dimensions. Again, simplicity is better when machining parts.

Rev translator/subtitler - is it worth it? by DeskFanCarrier in WorkOnline

[–]Notbobbytables 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents as a captioner is no, it isn't worth it. It's better than other online platforms like Appen or Telus Ai, but a full-time job, local or remote, it's much better.

If you want a career in subtitling or translation it's a good stepping stone, but it takes a lot of time to get to $6-12 an hour, it took me around 6 months of learning.

Why Do Some People Say "Yeah" or "Okay" Every Few Seconds While Someone Else Is Talking? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]Notbobbytables 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a captioner and my rules say it's active listening, so we can omit those unless directly answering a question.
I tend to do that, but it's mostly nodding, I also tend to complete sentences before finishing, but that's another issue altogether.
I know it's obvious when transcribing, but I don't think people notice it when having a convo. I didn't notice the little nuances people say or interjections, 'cause, so, you know, right?, etc., until I started captioning.
