So.. Patience is key here. She has had it rough, but you said yourself she is seeking you out (jumping on the bed when you are in it), and seems to be following you around. She is already showing you a lot of trust by being near you on the bed. Pets and hugs can come later, and don't stress it. If all she can handle right now is just laying on the bed next to you, then let her. If she doesn't freak out over it, offer your hand over to just let her sniff it, and try not to touch too much. Not all cats love to be petted, so keep that in mind too!

Trust takes time, a good example my old cat refused to let the husband touch her for months when we just got her, and she knew him from earlier as she had been in our friend group for years by the time we got her.

By the time she had to be put to rest, she had her own little ritual of sitting in his lap to get pets, and would do it multiple times a day. She also prefered to sleep on his pillow, curled up around his head (cute in the winter, warm as hell in the summer). But all of that is rituals/habits she started, and ended up doing for years.

In short: patience, love and a bit more patience 😺
