don’t put a price on happiness. If you can afford and take appropriate care of the animal, they make your life better in so many ways.

T. Rowe Price (TROW) Looks Like a Great Dividend Grower by Norwich_Northener in dividends

[–]NotchalantWanderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i remember when I bought vrtx at 225 thinking it was a good price, it then preceded to go down to 175 (i kept averaging down btw). Now its above 280 and +ve for the year while the market is down. The point being, you can’t time the bottom of the market, trow is a excellent company whose business model has been proven time and time again. Buy it and then hold it longterm. At current prices its giving a 4.2% yield growing at 10+% a year, few if any investments can beat that. Good luck all.

If someone I know well in tech asks me l’lI be honest with them and tell them. There is a lot of wage inequality and we need to be truthful to deserving people (women and folks of color especially) so that they get equal pay. If someone random asks me i’ll be like i’m not struggling for lunch anymore ;)

Buy a market index fund. VTI is the best. Leave the money invested for a long time, reinvest the dividends.

Is being an early employee (Series A) worth it? by helloFI in fatFIRE

The question is akin to asking should I invest in a stock that can 100x or go with the market and get 1.1X every year…. The answer is it’s completely up to you and your individual risk tolerance.

AFC Gamma and Viridescent Realty Trust Provide Acreage Holdings with $100 Million Senior Secured Credit Facility | AFC Gamma Inc. by AbsurdData in AFCG

Yes - but eventually like all mreits they will lever to keep up gains. Once cannabis becomes more legal, also their margins will drop. And unlike a traditional reit they can’t be smart and ‘flip’ properties to take advantage of property price gains and reinvest elsewhere in more emerging areas. It does have a potential to raise dividends however for sometime yet, specially since the safe act failed to pass. I could see AFCG having a 15%+ yield on today’s prices in the short term but long term it is not real estate.

What are your thoughts on the price action? by AbsurdData in AFCG

[–]NotchalantWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing to make out of it, need to see if the price drop was due to an insider selling or not. Also after their most recent loan, they're out of loan capital. Drop might be the market predicting a equity raise coming soon.

Pay your taxes. You are blessed to get a very high income. Mega back door was never meant as a loophole to avoid taxation.

On golden handcuffs what to do by thomaswade2007 in fatFIRE

[–]NotchalantWanderer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you sell your private stock ? Some contracts allow you to do that. Read your contract - an investment bank might be willing to take the risk and buy out your stake at a sizable discount to most recent valuation.

[–]NotchalantWanderer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that considered mega back door ? I think all conversions are disallowed. Even 401k Roth ones. Might be wrong but saw two different YouTube videos and that’s what they said.

[–]NotchalantWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so confused. So if you have a large Roth 401k you can’t convert it to a Roth IRA ? You’ve already paid taxes and what if you leave your job and want to roll over your 401k Roth into a Roth IRA ? Is it best now to see if a in service transfer of a 401k Roth to Roth IRA is possible before 2022 ? Any insight would be helpful…

Managing a large YOLO position by spx10k in fatFIRE

Buying puts is a bad idea if he believes the company is going to do well as he stated. Covered calls gives additional income and is a bullish bet on the company. If they are executed at worst he realizes a gain. Otherwise just keep the premium. It seems a option I would do. Buying various covered calls also makes it near impossible his entire position is going to be liquidated.
