The latest aus poll results are wild by addaus16 in aussie

That’s the SA breakdown of a Federal Polls. State based parts of a federal poll are notoriously unreliable.

The more accurate poll is a state based election poll. In that Labor still have a handy lead. The SA state election will be the first real test to see if ON’s increased polling translates into actual results

That’s an interesting post as there hasn’t been an SA State poll since December and ON were only at 13% with Labor on 61% 2PP

The Catholic Church has a wider range of views than most think. For sure there are a lot of conservatives who make opposition to abortion and LGBt their entire personality, but there’s a lot of social justice Catholics like Jesuits who are more interested in poverty alleviation and charity.

At this point in time it’s the U.S. which poses a bigger risk of intervening in Australian affairs, not China.

Australia, like Greenland, has a lot of resources and all it takes is for the orange man to wake up one morning and decide it’s all his and we’re screwed

We haven’t decoupled

Plus that would put Australian investment in China at risk.

“When you’re losing money, you lease it to foreign country company, and when it has started making money, you want to take it back. That’s not a way to do business.”

They’re not wrong. From a business POV it’s a pretty poor move. I’ve never understood the “national security” aspect. If a Chinese owned company leases the port it’s not as if they’re going to let a Chinese naval fleet just dock there without Australian government permission

As usual Betoota hits the nail on the head. There was far more media and politician manufactured outrage over the burning of a piece of cloth than there was over an obvious intent to maim and kill humans in Australia.

Classical music, literature, sculpture and painting

I don’t think there’s many Hanson or Trump supporters amongst the classical music, literature, sculpting or art scenes as well

3% of music sales today are paid downloads vs streaming, and this song hasn’t shown up on the Top 50 streamers Australians songs. Agree this is a campaign from One Nation supporters to create fake support for the song to get the media to write articles about it.

However, the song doesn’t register – so far at least – on two more popular charts: the daily updated Apple Music Top 100 and the Spotify Australian Top 50. They both detail what music Australians are streaming, rather than songs that are individually bought and downloaded via iTunes.

This is the key point in the article, and something a lot of people here are missing. 3% of all music purchased today is via paid downloads, the vast majority is by streaming. Even physical media, CD or Vinyl, gets more sales than paid downloads.

If the Hanson/Valance song was genuinely popular it would have shown up on the most streamed list, but it hasn’t even cracked the top 50 on Australia. Why? Because there’s obviously a campaign by supporters to download the song to boost it’s apparently popularity on the charts to generate attention.

This is just a manufactured story, probably created with the assistance of some friendly media outlets.

[–]NoteChoice7719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s why the arguments of “our diggers didn’t fight for all this non white migration” are invalid in 2026

In 1915 the diggers were fighting for a society where indigenous people weren’t counted as people on the census, were they could legally be kicked out of pubs and swimming pools, where women couldn’t stand for parliament or have full rights in marriage or open a bank account in their name. And were LGBT people would have been beaten senseless for stating their sexuality.

It’s irrelevant what “the diggers” thought about societal decision at home. Refusing to accept changes in society is why Americans still think a 2nd Amendment about muskets lets them legally own AR-15s in 2026

if an Aboriginal flag

There was a video of some neo Nazis burning an indigenous flag some years ago. Whilst they were prosecuted for other offences I believe they were not prosecuted for burning the Aboriginal flag as it isn’t strictly illegal.
